  • Patent number: 6456433
Abstract: A handheld stereographic book-type device which includes a content support portion (8) configured to position and support stereographic content (1A, 1B), and a stereoscopic viewer (5) configured to enable interocular adjustment. The stereoscopic viewer includes adjustable left and right lenses and respective adjustable occluding apertures to enable perception of stereographic content configured with left and right peripheral monocular fields (FIGS. 7-9, 2DL & 2DR). A viewer pivotal chassis (3) is configured to couple the stereoscopic viewer to the content support portion (8). The viewer pivotal chassis includes a plurality of pivotal axes (3) parallel to a line which bisects the left and right lenses of said viewer to enable the user to visually scan and traverse up and down the length of said content while maintaining focus of said content therewith said viewer (5).

  • Patent number: 5925572
Abstract: A pH sensor based upon spectrophotometric techniques has been developed for in situ analysis of an aqueous medium, e.g., surface seawater. This sensor utilizes a spectrophotometric pH indicator (Thymol Blue), which has been calibrated for use in seawater as a function of temperature and salinity. Shipboard spectrophotometric pH analyses routinely demonstrate a precision on the order of .+-.0.0004 pH units. In situ analysis of seawater pH has demonstrated a precision on the order of .+-.0.001 and an accuracy, using shipboard measurements as a standard, on the order of .+-.0.01. The sensor is a self-contained system that pumps seawater, meters in indicator, and spectrophotometrically determines indicator absorbance cells, each with three wavelength channels, to obtain the spectrophotometric absorbance. The sensor system, rated for depths up to 500 m, provides pH, conductivity, and temperature and can be operated via computer or in a standalone mode with internal data storage.

  • Patent number: 5895341
Abstract: A jump rope simulator for providing an exercise workout simulating the jumping of a jump rope. The simulator includes a pair of hand-held units. Each unit includes a handle and a flexible cord. The handle has opposite first and second ends. One of the ends of the flexible cord is coupled to the first end of the handle such that the flexible cord may be twirled about a twirling axis extending from the handle.

  • Patent number: 5499136
Abstract: A stereographic book includes a base portion, a plurality of pages having text and stereographic imagery thereon, and a fastener for coupling the plurality of pages to the base portion about a page pivotal axis. The stereographic book also includes a stereographic viewer having a viewer body and a lens system, and a coupling section formed integrally with the base portion and the viewer body for pivotably coupling the stereographic viewer to the base portion. The coupling section including an articulated section defining at least two pivotal axes which are generally parallel to the page pivotal axis to facilitate alignment and focal adjustment of the stereographic viewer relative to the plurality of pages.

  • Patent number: 5309280
Abstract: A stereographic book includes a case having a bottom shell. The bottom shell includes a bottom surface, a front side wall, and a rear side wall. The case also includes a top shell pivotably coupled to the bottom shell adjacent the rear side wall of the bottom shell. The stereographic book also includes an optical viewer pivotably coupled to the bottom shell adjacent the front side wall. The optical viewer includes a lens system. The stereographic book further includes a plurality of pages including a first surface having imagery thereon. The pages are pivotably coupled to the bottom shell adjacent the rear side wall spaced apart from the optical viewer by a predetermined distance. Therefore, a user can pivot the pages relative to the bottom shell and view the imagery through lens system of the optical viewer. The lens system of the optical viewer has a predetermined focal length substantially equal to the predetermined distance between the pages and the optical viewer.

  • Patent number: 5083064
Abstract: Apparatus for flashing incandescent and fluorescent lamps in response to audio signals such as speech or music, together or individually. Apparatus employs an automatic level control to insure uniform input level to each active filter which filters the audio information by selected components into certain preferred bands of frequencies. The outputs of these active filters are thus rectified and fed into integrators. These integrators are recycled 120 times per second by transistors across the integrating capacitor. The output of the integrators are fed into transistor comparators where individual comparators compare the input signal with a reference signal and changes state also at 120 cycles per second. The outputs of the comparators are fed into triac drivers which drive the control gates of the triacs at 60 cycles per second, thus turning the load lamps on and off at such a rate eliminates any discernabale lag in light display to audio beat sounds.

  • Patent number: 4580828
Abstract: An improved tailgate apparatus is provided for use on the rear of the cargo compartment of pickup trucks. The apparatus is comprised of a tailgate panel which attaches to the cargo compartment with the aid of paired flat arms, and storage compartment located beneath the floor of the cargo compartment. In use, the tailgate panel can be positioned in either a closed position, a first open position where it extends rearwardly from the cargo compartment or a second open position where it is housed within said storage compartment.
