  • Patent number: 6681702
Abstract: The wheeled skate includes an inverted U-shaped elongated channel member, two housings, and two wheels. The channel member has apertures formed in the top near both ends of the member. Each housing is in an inverted U-shape and has a rounded portion covering one end. Apertures are formed in the top and sides of each housing. Each wheel has a bushing and axle that pass through the center thereof. The wheel is inserted into its respective housing so that the axle fits into the apertures formed within the sides of the housing. Each housing is then secured within an end of the channel member. A bolt is inserted through each aperture formed within the top of the channel member and is secured to the bottom of the storage device. In a second embodiment, the wheel is secured directly to the elongated channel member via a bolt.

  • Patent number: 4750626
Abstract: A corner structure, specifically for a shelving unit, which is formed by three one-piece members. The first member comprises a plastic sleeve having an external conical configuration, the sleeve being axially split throughout its length to facilitate elastic spreading so that it can be moved transversely into surrounding gripping engagement with a post. The second member involves a channel-like corner piece which is preferably welded directly to a shelf adjacent a corner thereof, this corner piece defining an arcuate channel which permits it to snugly embrace one side of the plastic sleeve. The third member comprises a strap which also has a channel adapted to embrace an opposite side of the plastic sleeve. The strap and corner piece having cooperating wedge structures which lockingly join the strap and corner piece together to effectively define a closed collar having an internal conical bore which is maintained in snug clamping engagement with the exterior conical surface of the plastic sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4637323
Abstract: A shelving unit wherein each corner of the shelf has a platelike bracket rigidly associated therewith. A corner structure coacts between each bracket and a respective corner post, which post is preferably of tubular cross section and has dimplelike recesses formed therein at selected vertically spaced intervals. The corner structure employs a strap which surrounds the post and creates intimate clamping contact with the post over approximately one-half of the external periphery thereof. This strap also preferably has interior projections which engage the dimples on the post. The corner structure also employs a corner piece which is stationarily secured to the bracket. The corner piece includes a downwardly cantilevered wedge having a front surface for engaging the periphery of the post over approximately one-half the extent thereof. The wedge vertically slidably engages within a wedgelike slot formed between the strap and the post to effect clamping of the post between the strap and corner piece.

  • Patent number: 4627543
Abstract: A shelving unit employing a corner structure formed by two cooperative clamping members having a wedge relationship therebetween, one of the members being fixedly or removably attached to the shelf and the other being disposed so as to removably surround a support port.

  • Patent number: 4346498
Abstract: A shock resistant caster assembly having a wheel positioned in a housing formed of at least two sections vertically displaceable with respect to each other, one of the housing sections being coupled to the wheel at its rotational axis. A shock pad of elastomeric material is positioned between the housing sections for resiliently cushioning the vertical displacement between the housing sections.

  • Patent number: 4237798
Abstract: A flat shelf having truncated corners with a corner connector disposed against each truncated corner. The corner connectors tightly clamp onto corner support posts to retain the shelf in an elevated position. Each corner connector includes a brace member having a recess at its rear end for receiving one truncated corner, and a base wall within the recess for abutting against the truncated corner. A receiving pocket is provided at the front of the brace member for receiving the legs of a U-shaped clamp. The upper and lower walls of the brace member include aligned arcuate seats, which in conjunction with a bight portion of the clamp, define a sleeve which is tightenable around its associated corner support post. Bolts are inserted through the truncated corners to tighten the clamps around the corner support posts and securely retain the corner connectors against the truncated corners to thereby provide substantially closed crevice-free corner connectors.

  • Patent number: 4106736
Abstract: An article supporting apparatus including a bracket which can be selectively placed and locked onto a supporting standard. A shelf, or other article holding device, is connected to the bracket. The bracket includes a U-shaped clip with transversely offset extending arms at the ends of the clip and longitudinally extending legs at the opposite ends of the arms. One of the legs includes an offset portion which lies in the same plane as the U-shaped clip. The standard includes three spaced apart bars positioned so that when the arms of the bracket sit on the middle bar, the bight of the U-shaped clip will be securely retained behind the upper bar and the legs of the bracket will straddle the lower bar. The bracket can be easily removed and repositioned at another location on the standard.
