  • Patent number: 9163320
Abstract: An electrolytic cell is provided. The cell includes a housing having a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet outlet, an anode and a cathode positioned within the housing and defining a reaction chamber therebetween, and a liquid flow path, from the liquid inlet to the liquid outlet, which passes through the reaction chamber. A transition duct is positioned at the liquid outlet and has a duct inlet, a duct outlet and a transition section along which internal side walls of the transition section converge along the liquid flow path to define a smooth transition from a first cross-sectional area to a second cross-sectional area of the transition duct. The first cross-sectional area is at least two times greater than the second cross sectional area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 15, 2013
Date of Patent: October 20, 2015
    Assignee: TENNANT COMPANY
    Inventors: Bruce F. Field, Charles W. O'Neil
  • Patent number: 9061323
Abstract: A cleaning system comprising a liquid source configured to provide a feed liquid at a first temperature, and an electrolysis cell configured to receive the feed liquid and to electrochemically activate the feed liquid to provide an electrochemically-activated liquid, wherein the electrochemical activation also heats the feed liquid such that the electrochemically-activated liquid is at an elevated temperature that is greater than the first temperature. The cleaning system also includes a dispenser configured to dispense the electrochemically-activated liquid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 7, 2013
Date of Patent: June 23, 2015
    Assignee: Tennant Company
Inventors: Bruce F. Field, Russell J. Pylkki, Mark Steven Citsay, Charles W. O'Neil

  • Publication number: 20130231034
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided to clean and sanitize livestock carcasses. The apparatus includes a livestock carcass travel path, at least one liquid dispenser configured to dispense liquid to the carcass travel path, and at least one treatment electrode. A control circuit is configured to cause an alternating electric field to be generated between the electrode and a surface of a carcass along the travel path, through the dispensed liquid.
