  • Patent number: 4481391
Abstract: An improved switch head for engaging and making electrical contact between first and second stationary electrical conductors. The switch head comprises lower and upper insulating head sections, biasing means and a contact slug contained within the lower insulating head section for contacting and making electrical connection with the first and second stationary conductors, and clamping means for holding the lower and upper insulating head sections together. The clamping means places the lower and upper insulating head sections in compression when the switch head engages the first and second stationary conductors. The clamping means also applies a force to the lower head section to disengage the switch head from the first and second stationary conductors.

  • Patent number: 4233482
Abstract: An enclosed multipole fuse disconnect switch is constructed of a single molded base, a single contact carrier, and an overcenter spring powered toggle mechanism constructed solely of a coiled compression spring and a stamped sheet metal tongue which extends through an aperture in the contact carrier. The tongue is formed integrally with a pivot shaft through which operating forces are applied to the toggle mechanism. Each pole includes a U-shaped bridging contact constructed of spring metal and floatingly mounted in an aperture of the contact carrier. One end of the pivot shaft extends into a slot in the enlarged end of a bearing rivet that extends through the sidewall of the switch enclosure and is keyed to a manual operating member at one end thereof. The latter extends through a guide slot in an arcuate bracket outside the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4205892
Abstract: A panelboard interior is provided with a row of connector assemblies. Each assembly includes a relatively rigidly conducting strap mounted directly to a main bus bar, and a formed spring member mounted on the strap and cooperating therewith to form back-to-back pockets constituting female plug-in connectors. Portions of the strap and spring defining each pocket are provided with apertures which are aligned with an aperture through a circuit breaker line terminal disposed within the pocket in question. The strap aperture is threaded to receive a clamping bolt which extends through the aligned apertures in the spring member and circuit breaker line terminal to firmly clamp the latter between the spring member and the strap.
