  • Patent number: 7048783
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner air/liquid separator is provided according to the invention. The separator includes an offset air/liquid airflow inlet for receiving an air/liquid airflow, with the offset air/liquid airflow inlet possessing a width and a height. The separator further includes a substantially cylindrical separator chamber communicating with the offset air/liquid airflow inlet, wherein the offset air/liquid airflow inlet is radially offset from the separator chamber. The separator further includes a lead-in track extending from the offset air/liquid airflow inlet and at least partially around the circumference of the separator chamber. The lead-in track tapers from substantially the width of the offset air/liquid airflow inlet into the separator chamber. The air/liquid airflow is entrained into a downward spiraling path in the separator chamber by the lead-in track.

  • Patent number: 7024724
Abstract: An improved bag docking assembly for aligning a vacuum bag for engagement with a dirty air outlet nozzle on a vacuum cleaner, and for retaining the vacuum bag in the position of engagement. The assembly incorporates an anchor member and a mounting member. The anchor member serves to attach the bag docking assembly to the vacuum cleaner. The anchor member can be a substantially flat piece of plastic having a central opening for closely receiving the dirty air outlet nozzle on the vacuum cleaner. The central opening can have a shoulder for engaging a rim or similar protrusion formed about the perimeter of the dirty air outlet nozzle. Additionally, protrusions are located on the anchor member that align with voids in the vacuum bag collar to ensure that correct alignment of the vacuum bag has been achieved.

  • Patent number: 6473933
Abstract: Belt-mounted vacuum apparatus and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, a belt-mounted vacuum apparatus includes a belt member adapted to engage about an operator's waist, a dirt receptacle attached to the belt member, and a vacuum unit attached to the belt member and spaced apart from the dirt receptacle. The vacuum unit is operatively coupled with the dirt receptacle such that an airflow created by the vacuum unit propels particulates through the intake port and into the dirt receptacle. In alternate embodiments, the vacuum unit may be spaced apart from the dirt receptacle by a small distance, or may be positioned on opposite sides of the operator. In another embodiment, an apparatus includes a belt member having a stiffened portion. The stiffened portion may, for example, comprise an outer shell. Alternately, the belt member may also include a flexible, padded layer that engages with the operator's waist.

  • Patent number: 6379408
Abstract: A sealable debris bag includes a bag body having an opening, and a plate member attached to the bag body proximate the opening. First and second portions of the plate member are pivotable along a fold-line so that the first portion is engageable with the second portion to substantially seal the opening. A tab on one side of the fold-line engages a notch on the other side of the fold-line to secure the device. The fold-line can be formed in the plate member, to define the first and second portions where the portions are contiguous, or can be formed in the bag body where the portions are non-contiguous. The opening may be formed in a flexible lateral wall of the bag body, or alternately, in an end portion of the bag body. A complimentary alignment structure on plate member mates with an alignment structure on a vacuum to ensure proper alignment of the debris bag on the vacuum.

  • Patent number: 5584095
Abstract: An upright steerable vacuum cleaner is provided, which includes the use of a pivotable cylindrical motor housing, as well as a universal joint which is attached to the motor housing, such that twisting at the upper body of the vacuum cleaner clockwise causes the base of the unit to turn right, and twisting in the opposite direction causes it to turn left.

  • Patent number: 4494770
Abstract: This invention relates to a vehicle suspension system having one or more axles, and wheels carried by the axles, in which a member which supports the body of the vehicle is attached to said axle housing and is spaced therefrom and is supported by a structure which extends laterally inward beneath the vehicle body, said structure bearing a resilient cushioning member in contact with another similar structure attached to the vehicle body or another axle, whereby an improvement in weight distribution and shock absorption is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4262501
Abstract: A torque control tool for installing and removing threaded fasteners couples a driven section of the tool with a drive section of the tool through detent balls of the former and a clutch plate of the latter. The clutch plate keys to a stem of the drive section for rotation together and has semi-spherical sockets of substantially the same radius of curvature as the balls receiving the balls and lying on a circle about a rotational axis of the driven section. A carrier plate cages the balls so that they index with the clutch plate sockets and keys to the balance of the driven section to transmit torque to it. Reliefs to the side of each socket and centered on the circle of the sockets permit the detent balls to uncouple from the drive section at an applied installation torque less than the uncoupling torque in the opposite, removal direction.
