  • Publication number: 20150324687
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for an extensible robotic device with artificial intelligence and receptive to training controls. In one implementation, a modular robotic system that allows a user to fully select the architecture and capability set of their robotic device is disclosed. The user may add/remove modules as their respective functions are required/obviated. In addition, the artificial intelligence is based on a neuronal network (e.g., spiking neural network), and a behavioral control structure that allows a user to train a robotic device in manner conceptually similar to the mode in which one goes about training a domesticated animal such as a dog or cat (e.g., a positive/negative feedback training paradigm) is used. The trainable behavior control structure is based on the artificial neural network, which simulates the neural/synaptic activity of the brain of a living organism.

  • Patent number: 9160711
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for implementing a cleansing farm are presented. A cleansing farm may comprise of a computing device that filters customer requests directed to an organization before they are routed internal to the organization. A cleansing farm may receive customer requests and filter the requests based on a set of filtering rules. The cleansing farm may inspect the customer request in order to determine whether it should be filtered. In an example where the organization is a financial institution, the customer request may include confidential customer information. Accordingly, in this example, the cleansing farm may be administered by an entity that is permitted to access the confidential customer information. A visualization tool may be used to visualize a plurality of customer requests at a cleansing farm and to generate rules for filtering customer requests at a cleansing farm.

  • Publication number: 20150193935
Abstract: A multi-user augmented reality (AR) system operates without a previously acquired common reference by generating a reference image on the fly. The reference image is produced by capturing at least two images of a planar object and using the images to determine a pose (position and orientation) of a first mobile platform with respect to the planar object. Based on the orientation of the mobile platform, an image of the planar object, which may be one of the initial images or a subsequently captured image, is warped to produce the reference image of a front view of the planar object. The reference image may be produced by the mobile platform or by, e.g., a server. Other mobile platforms may determine their pose with respect to the planar object using the reference image to perform a multi-user augmented reality application.

  • Patent number: 9077890
Abstract: An apparatus and method for supporting augmented reality or other computer vision applications are presented. Embodiments enable communication between natural feature and auto-focus engines to increase an engine's accuracy or decrease a processing time of the engine. An auto-focus engine may communicate a location of an auto-focus window to a natural feature detection module and/or a change in location of a previous auto-focus window to a next auto-focus window. The natural feature detection module uses the communicated information to limit an initial search area and/or to set a next tracking search window. A natural feature tracking module may communicate a changes from a previous location of a natural feature to a next location of the natural feature to an auto-focus engine. The auto-focus engine uses the change to set a next auto-focus window.

  • Publication number: 20150170220
Abstract: Various arrangements for delivery of relevant content to a mobile device of a user are presented. Physiological state data and image data related to the user of the mobile device may be received by a host computer system from a mobile device. The image data may be analyzed to identify a characteristic of the image. The physiological state data may also be analyzed. Content to deliver to the mobile device of the user may be selected at least partially based on the physiological state data of the user and the characteristic of the image. The content may be transmitted to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8908911
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for identifying and filtering redundant database entries associated with a visual search system. An example of a method of managing a database associated with a mobile device described herein includes identifying a captured image; obtaining an external database record from an external database corresponding to an object identified from the captured image; comparing the external database record to a locally stored database record; and locally discarding one of the external database record or the locally stored database record if the comparing indicates overlap between the external database record and the locally stored database record.

  • Publication number: 20140077665
Abstract: A pressurized gas cooled high speed motor includes a wound stator and rotor assembly disposed within a pressure vessel such that the stator and rotor assembly can be removed without disconnecting the high pressure lines to the pressure vessel. The stator has a spring loaded axial retention mechanism that cooperates with a concentric groove in the pressure vessel for maintaining the stator and rotor assembly fixedly in place in the pressure vessel during transport and operation of the motor. A shoulder formed in the pressure vessel is used to axially position the stator assembly within the pressure vessel. A key if provided for angularly and fixedly positioning the stator within the pressure vessel.

  • Patent number: 8640480
Abstract: A room air conditioner and/or heat pump is shown with a main control and a user interface. The user interface is mounted on a user interface mount attached to the front of a main unit, but behind the bezel. The user interface mount is used to (a) insert or remove the main unit, (b) secure and protect wiring cables, (c) mount the user interface thereon, (d) direct a filter into position, (e) provide a slot for a fresh air slide, and (f) direct a bezel into position. A main control housing allows access there through to a main control circuit board, but prevents moisture from dripping on the main control circuit board. A dual filter element is located behind a double hinged door. Channels and flanges direct and secure the bezel into position.

  • Patent number: 8638986
Abstract: A reference patch of an unknown environment is generated on the fly for positioning and tracking. The reference patch is generated using a captured image of a planar object with two perpendicular sets of parallel lines. The planar object is detected in the image and axes of the world coordinate system are defined using the vanishing points for the two sets of parallel lines. The camera rotation is recovered based on the defined axes, and the reference patch of at least a portion of the image of the planar object is generated using the recovered camera rotation. The reference patch can then be used for vision based detection and tracking. The planar object may be detected in the image as sets of parallel lines or as a rectangle.

  • Publication number: 20130201344
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, and computer-readable media for taking great pictures at an event or an occasion. The techniques described in embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for tracking an object, such as a person dancing or a soccer ball in a soccer game and automatically taking pictures of the object during the event. The user may switch the device to an Event Mode that allows the user to delegate some of the picture-taking responsibilities to the device during an event. In the Event Mode, the device identifies objects of interest for the event. Also, the user may select the objects of interest from the view displayed by the display unit. The device may also have pre-programmed objects including objects that the device detects. In addition, the device may also detect people from the users' social networks by retrieving images from social networks like Facebook® and LinkedIn®.
