  • Publication number: 20030099708
Abstract: The invention includes dispensing a suspension containing solid particles for use in manufacturing a dosage form or other biomedical article by 3DP. The suspension contains solid particles suspended in a liquid. The solid particles may be one or more Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. The solid particles may be particles of material that are insoluble in the liquid, or they may be particles of a substance that have already dissolved in the liquid up to the saturation level and are present in a concentration beyond what can be dissolved. In addition to solid particles, the liquid may also contain other substances dissolved in it, either substances containing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) or substances without API. One aspect of the invention includes prevention of agglomeration by adding one or more of several categories of additives to the suspending liquid.

  • Patent number: 6570994
Abstract: A technique and apparatus for integrating a speaker with button (or keyboard) components such as a tactile membrane and/or PCB. The tactile membrane conventionally used between buttons and switch mechanisms to provide tactile feedback to a user upon depression of the button is extended to form a vibrating portion of a speaker. The vibrating portion is doped with or otherwise includes an activating material (e.g., copper) which will be physically affected by a magnetic field. The activating material may be adhered to the upper and/or lower side of the vibrating portion, or doped therein. A coil for the speaker is formed with a coil tracing pattern formed on one or more layers of a PCB. One or more amplifier circuits may be included to drive one or more coil patterns, to cause a fluctuating magnetic field in the direction perpendicular to the vibrating portion of the tactile membrane.

  • Publication number: 20030094604
Abstract: A connector for a modular safety rail comprises a unitary combination of a body portion and two socket formations. The body portion comprises first and second flange formations which each define a substantially planar support surface, the support surfaces lying substantially perpendicular relative to one another in an ‘L’ shape configuration as viewed along the line of intersection of the support surfaces. The support surfaces facing outwardly, and opposite inwardly facing surfaces of the flange formations each have integral therewith a respective one of the socket formations. Each socket formation has an outer end for receiving a tube or rod and an inner end region which is integral with the inner end region of the other socket formation of the pair, the longitudinal axis of each socket formation extending substantially perpendicular to the line of intersection of the support surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20030093633
Abstract: A system and method of verifying data transferred along a data path from one buffer, such as a user buffer in the host system to a second buffer, such as a disc drive buffer on a disc drive system by using the receiving device to test the information and provide a confirmation or error signal to the sending device. The system and method appends non-abstract identification tags to the abstract data in the first buffer, i.e., the data to be stored to and/or read from the storage device. The tags are transmitted along with the abstract data and provide unique information that is used by either the disc drive device or the host system to validate data received from the other. The validation is based on a comparison of the tag values to a predetermined control value that may be received prior to receiving the abstract data.

  • Patent number: 6556605
Abstract: A mesa stripe buried heterostructure semiconductor laser with no intediffusion of atoms between doped regions and a method of its formation are disclosed. A double dielectric mask is used to form the mesa stripe. The first mask is then partially etched and a Si-doped InP layer is selectively grown. The first and second mask are subsequently etched away and an InP(Zn) clad layer, along with a Zn-doped InGaAs contact layer, are formed. This way, the resulting structure has no contact between the InP(Zn) clad layer and the InP(Fe) layer, and the dopant atoms interdiffusion is suppressed.

  • Publication number: 20020181443
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for serving telecommunications customers, using the transmission capabilities of a Packet Network. A customer having Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) that includes a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE)/Gateway for communicating with a Packet Network, is connected to a port of the Packet Network. The customer is connected to the Gateway of a Home Switch via the Packet Network, and is also connected to Gateways of one or more Guest Switches. The customer has telephone numbers in the Home Switch and each of the Guest Switches. Callers can call the customer as if that customer were directly served by the Home Switch or any of the Guest Switches, using the appropriate telephone numbers. The customer can call telephones accessible from the Home Switch as well as any of the Guest Switches by specifying to the CPE/Gateway that the connection via the Packet Network is to be to a port of the selected Home or Guest Switch. Connections are then completed from that selected switch.

  • Patent number: RE38170
Abstract: A gas conversion process in which both hydrocarbons and hydrogen are produced from a synthesis gas feed which comprises a mixture of H2 and CO, uses hydrogen from a portion of the feed for one or more of (i) hydrocarbon synthesis catalyst rejuvenation and (ii) hydroconversion upgrading of at least a portion of the synthesized hydrocarbons. Hydrogen is produced from a slipstream of the synthesis gas fed into the hydrocarbon synthesis reactor by one or more of (i) physical separation means such as pressure swing adsorption and (ii) chemical means such as a water gas shift reactor. If a shift reactor is used due to insufficient capacity of the synthesis gas generator, physical separation means such as pressure swing adsorption will still be used to separate a pure stream of hydrogen from the shift reactor gas effluent.
