  • Patent number: 11933976
Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking the position of one or more head-mounted display (HMD) system components of an HMD system. The HMD components may carry a plurality of angle sensitive detectors or other types of detectors. The HMD system may be operative to detect corrupted position tracking samples, allowing such samples to be ignored, thereby improving the position tracking process. Control circuitry causes light sources to emit light according a specified pattern, and receives sensor data from the plurality of detectors. Control circuitry may process the sensor data, for example using machine learning or other techniques, to track a position of one or more HMD components.

  • Patent number: 11191261
Abstract: The bird-nesting prevention device is a mechanical structure. The bird-nesting prevention device is configured for use with a porch roof. The porch roof further comprises with a column. The column further comprises with a capital. The capital comprises the elements of the column that attach to the porch roof. The bird-nesting prevention device forms a barrier that prevents one or more birds from nesting on the capital of the column. The bird-nesting prevention device comprises a master prism structure and a bird's mouth cut. The bird's mouth cut is a negative space formed in the master prism structure. The bird's mouth cut attaches the master prism structure to the capital using a bird's mouth joint. The master prism structure forms a barrier that prevents the one or more birds from nesting on the capital of the column.

  • Publication number: 20060120942
Abstract: A method for solution mining nahcolite, capable of extracting nahcolite from geological formations lean in nahcolite comprising injecting high pressure water (which may include recycled aqueous solution of bicarb and sodium carbonate) at a temperature of at least 250° F. into the formation, dissolving nahcolite in the hot water to form a production solution and recovering the production solution. The invention also includes the processing of the production solution to provide sodium carbonate and, optionally, sodium bicarbonate, comprising: decomposing the sodium bicarbonate portion of the hot aqueous production solution to form a hot aqueous solution of sodium carbonate; evaporating water from the hot aqueous solution comprising sodium carbonate to form a concentrated solution of sodium carbonate; producing sodium carbonate monohydrate from the concentrated solution of sodium carbonate by crystallization; and dewatering and calcining the sodium carbonate monohydrate to produce anhydrous sodium carbonate.

  • Publication number: 20050250132
Abstract: The present invention provides fluorescence-based real-time PCR assays for the rapid detection of chemokine receptor single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). The genotyping assay can be used to detect SNPs of human chemokine receptor (CXCR2) single nucleotide polymorphisms T1208C, C785T and G1440A.

  • Publication number: 20050186970
Abstract: A push-to-talk controller in a wireless network, comprising a presence server and a push-to-talk server, establishes a local ad hoc group session between an inviting mobile terminal and local mobile terminals responsive to a push-to-talk request from the inviting mobile terminal. The presence server identifies local mobile terminals within a local area of the inviting mobile terminal. The push-to-talk server then establishes the group session between the inviting mobile terminal and one or more local mobile terminals in the local area. In exemplary embodiments, the push-to-talk server sends an invite message to each of the local mobile terminals identified by the presence server and establishes the local ad hoc group session between the inviting mobile terminal and one or more of the local mobile terminals that respond to the invite message.

  • Publication number: 20050070241
Abstract: A mobile communications device has a wireless transceiver to facilitate communications, memory, and a processor. The processor may be configured to analyze an audio file stored in the memory, and extract or generate synchronizing information from the audio file. The processor synchronizes one or more complementary multi-media effects, such as lights, a camera, or a tactile feedback generator, with the audio file based on the synchronizing information. Alternatively, a user may input synchronizing information about the audio file via an interface on the communications device. The processor may then control the complementary multi-media effects in synchronization with the input synchronizing information.

  • Patent number: 5894323
Abstract: A remote data collection system, which may be used in a vehicle such as an aircraft or a ground vehicle, includes a directional sensor, such as one or more cameras, for sensing a characteristic of interest and providing sensor data. The system further includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver for providing GPS data representative of the position of the sensor, an inertial measurement unit (IMU) for providing IMU data representative of the attitude of the sensor, a processing unit and a storage unit. The processing unit determines geographic data referenced to the sensor data in response to the GPS data and the IMU data. The processing unit may utilize an error model to determine IMU errors which may be used in determining the geographic data with high accuracy. The sensor data and the geographic data are stored in the data storage unit for subsequent use. The system may include a stabilized platform on which the sensor and the IMU are mounted.
