  • Publication number: 20210317058
Abstract: Hydroxyacetal or hydroxyketal monomers, processes for their preparation, their use to produce degradable polymers, hydroxy-functional intermediates resulting from degradation, and repurposed polymers made from the hydroxy-functional intermediates are described. The invention avoids the energy-intensive conditions normally used to degrade polyurethanes and generates new hydroxy-functional intermediates that can be repurposed or upcycled. Polyurethanes and melamines, materials once destined for a landfill, can have a second life. Incorporation of a photoacid generator into microcapsule core materials and fabrication of the shell from the hydroxy-functional acetal or ketal monomers promotes facile, inside-out, solid-state degradation of the microcapsule shell triggered by UV light and acid generation in a hydrophobic environment. This enables controlled release of flavors, fragrances, biocides, agricultural actives, or other oil-based beneficial agents from within the microcapsules.

  • Patent number: 8885823
Abstract: A method for delivering encrypted content to a subscriber terminal on-demand through a communication network is provided. The method begins when SRM receives a request for content from the subscriber terminal. In response to the request, the SRM directs a video server to transmit the content as an unencrypted transport stream to an encryptor. The packets in the unencrypted transport stream include a header with a destination address associated with the subscriber terminal. The encryptor encrypts the content in the unencrypted transport stream to generate an encrypted transport stream. The encryptor also inserts in the packet headers of the packets in the encrypted transport stream the destination address associated with the subscriber terminal obtained from the packet headers in the unencrypted transport stream. Finally, the encrypted transport stream is transmitted to the subscriber terminal over the communication network.

  • Publication number: 20050066673
Abstract: A pressure equalization system is provided for starting a compressor while maintaining the condenser at a high pressure and includes a valve and a bleed port. The compressor has a compressor inlet for receiving a fluid at a first pressure and a compressor outlet for discharging the fluid at a second pressure, and is operable to compress the fluid from the first pressure to the second pressure. The valve is proximate to and in fluid communication with the compressor outlet and is movable to an open position when the compressor is operating to permit the fluid at the second pressure to flow through the valve and is movable to a closed position when the compressor stops operating to prevent backflow of the fluid at the second pressure through the valve toward the compressor inlet. The bleed port is upstream of the valve and in fluid communication with the compressor inlet to equalize the pressure of the fluid contained in the compressor when the compressor stops operating.

  • Patent number: 5694870
Abstract: A sewing machine has improved material cutting before stitching. The machine includes a sewing head and stitch area where stitching of strip material occurs. Strip material is fed by a timing belt along a predetermined path of travel into the stitch area. A lower cutter roll is positioned along the predetermined path of travel, and the strip material passes over the lower cutting roll. The lower cutter roll is driven by a transmission system connected to the sewing head motor. At least one circular configured, freely rotatable rotary knife engages the lower cutter roll and any strip material passing thereover is cut before stitching.

  • Patent number: 5647292
Abstract: An apparatus for sewing has a sewing head with a stitching station at which stitching occurs on material fed therethrough. A turntable holds material to be stitched in its position adjacent to the sewing head. The turntable has an outer perimeter with a portion of the outer perimeter extending through the stitching station. Fabric material is held along the perimeter and stitched as the turntable rotates so that during stitching the turntable rotates and feeds material into the stitching station of the sewing head. In a preferred embodiment, the turntable includes upper and lower platens and magnets positioned on the upper platen for locking upper and lower platens together and holding fabric material therebetween.
