Publication number: 20230302779Abstract: A surfacing film is provided that includes a plurality of layers in the following order: an outer layer comprised of a reaction product of a two-part curable fluoropolyurethane composition including a polyisocyanate and at least one polyhydroxy-functional fluoropolymer, optionally a primer layer comprising a polyurethane; and a base layer. Advantageously, the surfacing films can display superior gloss, mechanical durability, chemical/stain resistance, easy cleaning performance, and weather aging stability compared with conventional surfacing films.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2021Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Yongshang LU, Charlie Chia-tie HO

Patent number: 11629273Abstract: There is provided a pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising a polyurethane polymer that comprises the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component and a polyol component. The polyol component has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) less than 10. The polyurethane further comprises 0.5 to 10 wt.-% of hydrophilic polymerized units having an HLB greater than 12, such as a reaction product of a polyethylene glycol polymer. In another embodiment, the polyurethane further comprises pendent ethylenically unsaturated groups. Also described are articles such as laminating tapes and protective films as well as methods of bonding substrates with the pressure sensitive adhesive and laminating tape.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2018Date of Patent: April 18, 2023Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Yongshang Lu, Encai Hao, Jianhui Xia, Lili Qie, David T. Publication number: 20210114361Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed relate to a surfacing film. The surfacing film includes a base layer. The base layer includes a thermoplastic polyurethane film comprising a reaction product of a reaction mixture of a diisocyanate, a polyester polyol having a melting temperature of at least about 30° C.; and a diol chain extender. There are many reasons to use the surfacing film including easier and more cost effective manufacturing of the surfacing film by directly extruding the base layer by mixing the reaction mixture in an extruder. Another reason to use the surfacing film is that the film has improved resistance to discoloration. Another reason to use the film is that the film shows good toughness.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2019Publication date: April 22, 2021Inventors: Charlie Chia-Tie HO, Yongshang LU, John J.
