  • Publication number: 20100263223
Abstract: A hair dryer has a cylindrical body with an open forward end. A turbine-like fan, a motor and a heater within the housing are powered by a power source in the housing. Several attachments may be replaceably substituted on the housing to achieve different functions, including: a retractable bristle brush through which air can flow from the cylindrical body; a comb having a hollow spine with a plurality of hollow teeth projecting from one side thereof and through which air can flow from the body; and a flexible nozzle that is bendable to direct air from the cylindrical housing in a desired direction. The nozzle has an outer end constructed to form a plurality of axially projecting fingers that can be used to separate hair as it is being dried with the dryer.

  • Publication number: 20100200011
Abstract: A retractable bristle brush has a handle with a stem attached at one end thereof to one end of the handle and extending longitudinally therefrom. A cylindrical barrel extends concentrically around the stem and has a plurality of spaced holes therethrough. A plurality of bristles is affixed at one end to the stem and project at their other end through the holes in the barrel. An actuator is connected with one of the barrel and stem to move the barrel and stem relative to one another to deflect the bristles and cause them to retract through the holes to a shielded position inside the barrel. The natural resiliency and memory of the bristles causes them to move the barrel and stem relative to one another to their original position with the bristles extended through the holes when pressure is released from the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20100163067
Abstract: A comb or brush having a first biological agent such as tourmaline coated on at least the length of the teeth of the comb or the bristles of the brush, and a second biological agent such as silver coated on the tips of the teeth of the comb or the bristles of the brush. In an embodiment the frame of the comb or base of the brush are coated with the same agent as applied to the teeth or bristles, respectively. In a further embodiment the teeth of the comb have a round cross-sectional shape to facilitate movement through tangled hair. The teeth may be formed integrally with the frame of the comb or formed separately and attached to the frame.

  • Publication number: 20100065080
Abstract: A retractable mascara applicator that can be operated with one hand. The applicator has a pen-like housing containing a mascara reservoir. An applicator rod is reciprocable in the housing and extends into the reservoir from a rearward end. A brush on a forward end of the rod is positioned in the reservoir when the rod is in a retracted position and projects beyond the housing when the rod is extended. A finger operated slide outside of the housing is connected directly with the applicator rod to retract it and extend it. In a preferred embodiment at least a portion of the housing is pliable and can be pressed inwardly to squeeze the reservoir and press the mascara paste against the brush.
