Abstract: The present invention provides a downloadable application which can be used with existing platforms or operating systems to enable the sending of messages which have, in addition to text, associated pictorial information corresponding to emotional states and other ancillary information about the sender. The application associates a sender-chosen pictorial personally discriptive indicator with identifying information, such as the sender's name, and transmits it to an intended recipient, and enables the sender to update the pictorial personally discriptive indicator to give a real-time meter of emotional states of the sender and other ancillary information to the recipient.
