  • Publication number: 20190362276
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide users with a system and method for managing resources. The method and system allow end users to participate in the trading of resources which enables lowering of costs for the end users. Furthermore, the method and system also enable utilisation of resources in a manner which can optimise a load (for example, electrical) for the resource supply. It should be appreciated that the resources can relate to, for example, water, fossil fuels, energy supplies and the like.

  • Patent number: 9237560
Abstract: Methods and systems are proposed for transmitting data from a source (110) to a destination (130) via a relay station (120) having multiple antennae (122, 124). The relay station (120) receives from the source a message containing the data and a first cyclic prefix. It does this using each of its antennae (122, 124), so producing multiple respective received signals. In certain embodiments, the relay station (120) removes the first cyclic prefix from the received signals, replacing it with a new one. In other embodiments, the relay station (120) removes only a portion of the first cyclic prefix. In either case, the relay station (120) may apply space-time coding to generate second signals, which it transmits to the destination (130), which extracts the data. Methods are also proposed for estimating parameters of the channel, to enable the destination (130) to decode the data.

  • Publication number: 20150142863
Abstract: A systematic distributed storage system (DSS) comprising: a plurality of storage nodes, wherein each storage node configures to store a plurality of sub blocks of a data file and a plurality of coded blocks, a set of repair pairs for each of the storage nodes, wherein the system is configured to use the respective repair pair of storage nodes to repair a lost or damaged sub block or coded block on a given storage node. Also a distributed storage system DSS comprising h non-empty nodes, and data stored non homogenously across the non-empty nodes according to the storing codes (n,k). Further a method for determining linear erasure codes with local repairability comprising: selecting two or more coding parameters including r and ?; determining if an optimal [n, k, d] code having all-symbol (r, ?)-locality (“(r, ?)a”) exists for the selected r, ?; and if the optimal (r, ?)a code exists performing a local repairable code using the optimal (r, ?)a code.

  • Publication number: 20110182336
Abstract: A method for determining a signal vector comprising a plurality of components from a received signal vector is provided comprising generating an estimation of the signal vector; determining a channel matrix characterizing the communication channel via which the signal vector was received; carrying out a plurality of determination iterations based on the channel matrix, wherein for each iteration a first set of possible sub-vectors of the signal vector is determined based on a second set of possible sub-vectors for the previous iteration and from the first set of possible sub-vectors, a number of sub-vectors is selected based on the distance of the sub-vectors to the estimated signal vector according to a pre-selected metric to form a strict subset of the first set as the second set of possible sub-vectors for the iteration; determining the signal vector based on a possible sub-vector for the last iteration.
