    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for smoothing a surface of an optical element with a laser. Firstly, an optical element having a rough surface is provided. Next, the rough surface of the optical element is illuminated with a laser. The rough surface absorbs laser energy and melts into a liquid. The liquid is stretched and planarized by the surface tension of the rough surface and then solidifies into a smooth surface. The present invention can smooth the surface of an optical element and promote the resonant or waveguide performance of the optical element.

The carrier includes receptacles mounted on a test substrate. The frame includes pins projecting from a surface of a plate. The plate has open areas. In a test sequence, the frame and carrier are oriented so that the cavities are exposed by open areas of the plate; a tool is used to place a device to be tested in each cavity; the frame and carrier are moved into alignment and toward one another to bring the pin ends into contact with the devices in the cavities. Then a test cycle is carried out. Following the test cycle the process is reversed to expose the devices for a pick-and-place tool to remove and bin the tested devices.

    Abstract: A method for searching a frequency band to locate a channel. The method includes the steps of setting an initial frequency and a first frequency step; determining a frequency point based on the initial frequency and the first frequency step; determining whether the frequency point satisfies a first condition, which is continuously detecting a horizontal signal a predetermined number of times. When the first condition is satisfied, the frequency point is recorded as an entrance point. A second frequency step based on the entrance point determines a second frequency point, wherein the second frequency step is less than the first frequency step. It is then determined if a channel exists at the second frequency point. The entrance point is recorded as the updated initial frequency for the next search. The described steps are repeated for the entire frequency band.
