  • Patent number: 5516361
Abstract: A fusing system, method of fusing with a fuser member having a thermally stable FKM hydrofluoroelastomer surface for fusing thermoplastic resin toners to a substrate in an electrostatographic printing apparatus has a polyorgano T-type amino functional oil release agent, the oil having predominantly monoamino functionality per active molecule to interact with the hydrofluoroelastomer surface to provide a substantially uniform interfacial barrier layer to the toner and a low surface energy film to release the toner from the surface.

  • Patent number: 5504566
Abstract: An apparatus for fusing toner images to a substrate. A Release Agent Management (RAM) system for applying silicone oil to a metering roll utilizes a pair of metering blades to improve oil uniformity on the metering roll. Thus, streaks or localized areas of excess silicone oil as the result of blade defects and/or dirt accumulation associated with a first blade, ARE metered or smoothed to a more uniform thickness by the second blade. To this end, the first metering blade serves to meter silicone oil to a first predetermined thickness while the second blade serves to meter oil streaks to a second predetermined thickness which is greater than the first predetermined thickness.

  • Patent number: 5480756
Abstract: A low melt, high gloss toner resin with low minimum fix temperature, wide fusing latitude and wide gloss latitude contains a linear portion and 1 to 10 percent by weight of a crosslinked portion containing high density, crosslinked microgel particles, but substantially free of low density, crosslinked polymer. The resin is particularly suitable for high gloss applications, such as process color and color transparencies, and for high speed fusing, shows excellent offset resistance, wide fusing latitude, wide gloss latitude and superior vinyl offset properties. The resin may be formed by reactive melt mixing.

  • Patent number: 5017432
Abstract: A fuser member and fuser system of a type wherein a polymeric release agent having functional groups supplied to the surface of the fuser member has an elastomer fusing surface comprising poly(vinylidenefluoride-hexafluoropropylene-tetrafluoroethylene) wherein the vinylidenefluoride is present in the amount less than 40 mole percent, a metal oxide is present in amounts sufficient to interact with the polymer release agent having functional groups to provide an interfacial barrier layer between the fusing surface and the toner and being substantially unreactive with the elastomer and wherein the elastomer is cured from a solvent solution thereof with a nucleophilic curing agent soluble in the solution and in the presence of less than 4 parts by weight of inorganic base per 100 parts by weight of polymer with the inorganic base being effective to at least partially dehydrofluorinate the vinylidenefluoride.

  • Patent number: 4876777
Abstract: The invention is a method of fabricating a fuser member by securing a generally cylindrical member of rubber around a core, the cylindrical member including metal oxides and having an outer surface with a plurality of holes that trap toner particles, typically in the 30 to 200 micron diameter range, and covering the outer surface of the cylindrical member with a layer of elastomer impregnated with metal oxides, the layer of elastomer filling a majority of the holes in the 30 to 200 micron diameter range and decreasing the number of metal oxide particles exposed on the surface of the cylindrical member.

  • Patent number: 4686936
Abstract: An electrophotographic printing machine in which an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member is developed with a liquid developer material having at least a liquid carrier with marking particles dispersed therein. The liquid developer material is advanced on a roll from a supply thereof to the latent image at a development zone. Marking particles are moved through the liquid carrier onto the surface of the roll and a resilient blade removes excessive liquid developer material from the roll prior to the development zone.
