  • Publication number: 20070046942
Abstract: A meter for measuring the turbidity of a fluid includes a light source for directing a light beam through a fluid under test towards a reflective surface and a sensor for detecting light reflected from the reflective surface and passing back through the fluid under test. The meter outputs a signal indicative of the turbidity of the fluid under test.

  • Publication number: 20070027651
Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a device for correcting the output of a light source such that the corrected output conforms to a known standard. The corrected light outputs are proportional to the colors contained in the light impacting the color sensor. In one embodiment, memory contains at least one color matching function pertaining to the specific color sensor and a controller works with the memory to convert the color sensor light outputs to a specific color PCS space based on the matching function. If desired, a user can select a desired PCS protocol.

  • Publication number: 20070013904
Abstract: In one embodiment, apparatus for characterizing a target is provided with a plurality of light sources that are positioned to illuminate a target. The light sources emit different wavelengths of light. A color sensor is positioned to receive and sense different wavelengths of light reflected from the target. A control system is operably associated with the plurality of light sources and the color sensor to A) in a calibration mode, operate the light sources and separately regulate drive signals of light sources emitting different wavelengths of light, in response to outputs of the color sensor, and B) in an operational mode, i) operate the light sources using the regulated drive signals, and ii) characterize the target in response to data output from the color sensor. A textile characterization system is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060220051
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for allowing a solid substrate, such as a printed circuit board (PCB), to act as the support structure for an electronic circuit. In one embodiment, the LEDs which form a part of a scrambler assembly are constructed on a first substrate and the electrical connections are run to the edges of the substrate and end in electrical contacts positioned thereat. The substrate is then connected to the scrambler package by a series of electrical and mechanical connections to form the LED package. The electrical contacts which are part of the LED package extend from the LED package so as to enable electrical contact with a separate controller substrate.

  • Publication number: 20060087666
Abstract: A color printing system includes a color monitor and printer having different color gamuts. A color chart is printed out by the printer. A light source outputs light to the color printer and a color sensor detects the light reflected from the color chart printout. The sensor outputs sensor color values representing the light received from the color chart printout. A print-preview matrix is calculated from the monitor color chart values and the sensor color values. An image is input to and displayed by the monitor and is converted into a print-preview image using the print-preview matrix. The monitor displays the monitor image and the print-preview image before printing the image.

  • Publication number: 20060006791
Abstract: A display having a cover element that is fastened to a base element is disclosed. The base element includes a substrate having a die with a semiconductor light source. The die is covered by a transparent protective layer. The cover element includes an opaque layer having an opening positioned to allow the die and the protective layer to protrude through the opening in the bottom surface but remain below the level of the top surface. A transparent window covers the opening above the die and the protective layer. The transparent window defines a pattern that is illuminated by the light source and visible from above the top surface of the cover element. A fastener affixes the base element to the cover element. The opaque layer and transparent window can be made in a two-step molding process. The display avoids the problems associated with encapsulating LEDs in an epoxy.

  • Publication number: 20050200269
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) display device comprises a substrate and a plurality of walls disposed on the substrate, the plurality of walls forming a cavity, the cavity being filled with an encapsulant not including fluorescent material. An LED is disposed on a first portion of the substrate within the cavity. An electrical connection exists between the LED and a second portion of the substrate, and a fluorescent material overlay is located at a top end of the cavity. The LED display device alternatively includes a plurality of LEDs, wherein each LED is disposed within a separate cavity.
