  • Patent number: 6006054
Abstract: A method of achieving pure tone noise control in a charging system of a copier/printer. The method includes the steps of first providing a plurality of individual charging devices and providing a plurality of power supplies for charging the plurality of individual charging devices. Next, charging at least one of the plurality of individual charging devices with a first of the plurality of power supplies at a predetermined frequency and charging at least one of the plurality of individual charging devices with a second of the plurality of power supplies at a frequency different from, but within a band width of, the predetermined frequency; and, lastly, charging at least one of the plurality of individual charging devices with a third of the plurality of power supplies at a frequency different from that of the first and second power supplies and within the band width of the first power supply frequency.

  • Patent number: 5668517
Abstract: An apparatus that controls impact noise of a solenoid by energy dissipation through both resilient and pneumatic devices. This is achieved by providing a device between the plunger of the solenoid and a machine member. The device includes a predetermined number of orifices which are of different sizes and placed at different locations. This forms an air metering system and controls the stiffness of the device for maximum impact noise attenuation.

  • Patent number: 5415391
Abstract: A low cost, compact inverter for inverting sheets uses the existing paper path to invert a sheet. A sheet is inverted by being deflected into a channel formed between a turnaround roller and a baffle. The sheet is driven by the turnaround roller back into the original paper path in a direction opposite to the incoming direction of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 5413536
Abstract: A low noise active tracking pulley idler reduces noise and actively tracks belts entrained around it by storing up undesirable impact energy and using it to guide the belts positioned around it. The idler includes an idler that is an integral member and has two cylindrical end portions with a flexible middle portion between them.

  • Patent number: 5316524
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the lateral alignment of a belt arranged to move in a predetermined path includes a first roll arranged to support a portion of the belt passing thereover. The first roll has first and second ends. A first centering assembly for the belt is located adjacent the first roll. The first centering assembly includes a first rotating member located adjacent a first end of the first roll and a second rotating member located adjacent a second end of the first roll. The first and second rotating members urge the belt to an equilibrium position on the first roll. In one embodiment, the first and second rotating members are rollers which may either be tapered or crowned. In a second embodiment, the rotating members are driven rollers which rotate towards each other. In a third embodiment, the two rotating members are endless tracking belts which rotate towards each other.

  • Patent number: 5215504
Abstract: Low noise timing belts for use in belt drive systems include either perforations cut into their thin segments or spiral grooves cut into their thick segments in order to allow air pockets to escape in all directions during teeth engagement of belts and pulleys, thereby reducing the noise generated in the process.
