  • Patent number: 6853752
Abstract: This invention teaches a mechanism or method for automatically and dynamically switching between a post filter and a loop filter for a video decoder. This dynamic operation is done automatically based on encoding parameters that are derived from information found in the bit stream being decoded by the video decoder. Based on these parameters, the decoder decides that the frame store should be filled with the unfiltered reconstructed picture or the filtered reconstructed picture. The decision is done on a picture by picture basis. Regardless of the decision, the output display picture is always filtered.

  • Patent number: 6381273
Abstract: A method for type casting data of different data types between two BIFS nodes. The method provides a simple, intuitive and easy method of creating a dynamic scene description that provides interactivity with the environment. This method removes the constant output constraint of the valuator defined in the MPEG-4 System Final Committee Draft dated May 15, 1998 (document ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11 N2201). The various conversion methods are disclosed for different data types as defined in the MPEG-4 System Final Committee Draft. The conversion methods are designed to be logical and to provide maximum usability in this enhanced version of the valuator node.
