Abstract: In a packaging arrangement for smoothly and conveniently providing small hardware items to an assembly line operator, the items are fastened onto a flexible band, lined up in the order in which they are to be installed on an article being assembled. The band is divided into equal segments defined by index marks, each segment containing the hardware items required for the assembly of one article. The items are fastened to the band off-line using securing features fashioned from the band itself in a manner and orientation by which each item can be plucked from the band with a tool that can grasp the item, pull it off the band, transport it to the article being assembled, and install it on the article without intermediate disengagement from the tool. The utilization of the band improves the productivity and reliability of manually assembled articles such as disk drives.

Abstract: An integrated induction battery charge apparatus transforms electric energy and magnetic energy according to electromagnetic induction principle to charge an induction charge battery. It integrates the conventional charge batteries to become an induction charge battery so that users may carry only one charge apparatus to charge the induction batteries of different specifications, thereby improve use convenience.

Abstract: An integration method for different information platforms in a decision-making system is proposed to solve the problem of being unable to integrate information among different platforms in the existing decision-making systems of the manufacturing industry. All information is integrated in a database and then distributed to users through a network and E-mail. The invention includes at least the following steps: the enterprise downloads at least one set of data from an information platform to a shared folder; a database server integrates the data in the shared folder; the computed data are moved to an integration platform; the enterprise selects a particular method to distribute the integrated data; and the user receives the data.

Abstract: An authorization method and system for storing and retrieving data are proposed, in which the authorization method is applied to the authorization system, which connects a terminal device to a resource system established by an application service provider (ASP) via a network, so as to allow the ASP to authorize a user at the terminal device to interact therewith for data storage and retrieval. In the use of the authorization method and system, a client terminal with no authorization is inhibited for storing and retrieving application software provided by an application service provider (ASP), and costs for an enterprise in purchasing authorization from the ASP can be significantly reduced.

Abstract: The invention provides an improved method and system for presenting television signals, including anti-aliasing of text with respect to a background. The background color is determined relatively locally for each element to be anti-aliased, and text or other graphics overlaid on that background are anti-aliased with respect to each relatively local background color. Also, anti-aliasing can be applied to blur text and graphics more vertically than horizontally to reduce flicker, and to blur chrominance more than luminance to reduce cross-chrominance artifacts resulting from Y/C separation. Similar techniques may be used for filtering images in addition to anti-aliasing text characters.

Abstract: A management system for parsing and receiving XML based schedules being established between a computer system of a product manufacturer and that of at least one original equipment manufacturer through the Internet so that the product manufacturer is capable of regularly receiving the XML based schedules from each original equipment manufacturer through the Internet for determining a correctness of the XML based schedules, parsing data therefrom, converting the data into EDI based schedules, and integrating the EDI based schedules with EDI based schedules stored in a database of the system.

Abstract: A method and a system for reading authorized data are proposed. With a network connection established among a system for reading authorized data, a terminal device and an application service provider, the system for reading authorized data allows a user at the terminal device to obtain data generated by operating an application program system of the application service provider, wherein the system for reading authorized data is pre-formed with a database used for storing the data generated by operating the application program system. Therefore, the user merely submits a data-reading request to the system for reading authorized data, which retrieves data requested by the user from the database. In the foregoing method and system, no startup program of the application service provider is necessarily installed in the terminal device, so that cost in purchasing authorization for using the application program system and load of the application program system are decreased.

Abstract: A method and system for delivering digital files in a peer-to-peer network comprising a plurality of nodes including at least one server is disclosed. The network includes a plurality of files that are available for accessibility by the nodes in which respective fingerprints are computed for each of the files based on content of the files. The method and system include partitioning each of the files into a plurality of file chunks, and assigning an error detecting code to each of the chunks. The file is then transmitted to a first node from at least one other node by transmitting the chunks of the file to the first node. The method and system further include computing a new error detecting code upon receipt of each chunk by the first node, and comparing the new error detecting code to the assigned error detecting code to verify that each chunk has been transmitted correctly, whereby the entire contents of the file does not have to be received before the first node discovers that the file is corrupt.

Abstract: The invention provides an improved method and system for presenting color television signals. Television signal chrominance values for foreground elements are adjusted in response to television signal chrominance values for background elements, so as to minimize display artifacts while preserving the relative color contrast between foreground and background. (1) The invention modifies I and Q values of the foreground color to reduce the difference of the foreground I and Q with respect to the background I and Q. (2) The invention modifies Y, I and Q values of the foreground color to avoid colors known to display poorly for selected output devices. (3) The invention modifies Y values of the foreground color to maintain intended visual contrast between foreground and background colors. (4) The invention modifies Y, I and Q values of the foreground color to decrease cross-luminance separation artifacts at the border between foreground and background colors.
