Abstract: Methods and systems for caching a media asset implemented on a user equipment device. The user equipment device is connected to a home network including the user equipment device and a mobile device. The media asset may be transformed into a first portion that is likely to be accessed and a second portion that is not likely to be accessed. The first portion may be stored at a user equipment device. The second portion may be stored at the mobile device. The home network may implement a custom Wi-Fi protocol that allows a first device on the home network to query a second device for an amount of storage space available on the second device. The user equipment device and the mobile device may each include a software driver compatible with the custom Wi-Fi protocol.
