  • Patent number: 9710505
Abstract: Described herein are system and methods for mitigating index contention issues in databases. The database server may generate additional storage locations to prevent overloading one or more current storage locations. A variety of database conditions may be used to trigger an increase or decrease in storage locations. In one embodiment, more storage locations may be generated when the amount of data records waiting to be written at a storage location exceeds or equals a threshold amount. Likewise, the database server may reduce the amount of current storage locations when the amount of data records is less than a threshold amount. The record identifiers may incorporate a location reference for their designated storage location. The reference may be a string that includes numbers, letters, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9256659
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for generating integrated identifiers that may be combined with database sequence values to create a high probability of uniqueness that minimizes assigning duplicate identifiers to one or more databases. The integrated identifier may be based in part on several identifiers associated with a database. This may include a numeric identifier assigned to the database, a name assigned to the database, or any other database property that may be relatively unique. In one embodiment, the integrated identifier may be associated with a sequence value for a database. While the sequence value may be unique within the database, the integrated identifier may be unique to other database identifiers. When an existing database is cloned, a new integrated identifier may be generated from the cloned database. New records stored in the new database may use the new integrated identifier, while the cloned records will remain unedited.

  • Patent number: 9239838
Abstract: A method and system is provided for maintaining customer data in a data store system utilizing a scalable partitioning framework. More specifically, the data store of a customer service system is partitioned (divided) into multiple partitions by a partitionable key of customer data so that each partition owns a subset of the customer data. By maintaining several partitions that store a subset of the customer data exclusive to each other, blackout or brownout problems can be local to one partition and, thus, the availability for the entire system will be increased. Moreover, a set of partitionable keys, a minimal unit to be moved between partitions, is grouped and associated with a partition. By eliminating direct dependencies between the partitions and the partitionable keys, the system can have great flexibility with regard to migrating customer data between partitions and adding a new partition.

  • Patent number: 7748030
Abstract: Systems and methods for packaging, delivery, and use of digital content. In one embodiment, a license matrix is created and used for evaluating the license rights applicable to a requested use of a content item. The license matrix can comprise a plurality of licenses grouped in license chains, and each license can include a set of entitlement rules and a set of grants. A license chain can be associated with an identifier corresponding to a use of content. In another embodiment, it is provided a method of packaging unsecured content for secured delivery over a computer network. In yet another embodiment, a system and method are provided for applying digital management rules to a content item at the time a user requests a use of the content item. In some embodiments, systems and methods allow evaluation of a requested use against a group of licenses to determine the applicable license rights for the requested use.
