  • Patent number: 8856268
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for allowing the sharing of games and gaming profiles between console and web-based gaming platforms. The present system includes a console service through which console games may be played, and a gaming website through which web-based games may be played. Players may play games through either the console service or gaming website using a single set of identity and profile data that is stored in a central data repository. Using a single repository for profile and other data, players may log in, play games, access their profiles and friends lists, and accrue rewards and game credits, regardless of whether they are using a console or web-based game. In a further aspect of the present system, users of consoles may play the same game and same game sessions with web-based users.

  • Patent number: 8853746
Abstract: The present invention relates to improved complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices with stressed channel regions. Specifically, each improved CMOS device comprises an field effect transistor (FET) having a channel region located in a semiconductor device structure, which has a top surface oriented along one of a first set of equivalent crystal planes and one or more additional surfaces oriented along a second, different set of equivalent crystal planes. Such additional surfaces can be readily formed by crystallographic etching. Further, one or more stressor layers with intrinsic compressive or tensile stress are located over the additional surfaces of the semiconductor device structure and are arranged and constructed to apply tensile or compressive stress to the channel region of the FET. Such stressor layers can be formed by pseudomorphic growth of a semiconductor material having a lattice constant different from the semiconductor device structure.

  • Patent number: 8851735
Abstract: A uniform reflective light-guide apparatus can accompany an optional edge light source and includes a light-guiding layer, a reflective layer and a light-exiting surface. The light-guiding layer further has a lateral side to define a light-introducing surface for allowing entrance of lights from the edge light source. The reflective layer is to reflect incident lights back to the light-guiding layer. The light-exiting surface perpendicular to the light-introducing surface is to allow at least a portion of the lights in the light-guiding layer to leave the light-guide apparatus. The reflective layer and the light-guiding layer are manufactured integrally by a co-extrusion process so as to avoid possible existence of an air spacing between the reflective layer and the light-guiding layer.

  • Patent number: RE45184
Abstract: A process of segmenting a single email so that portions of it may be directed to or away from select recipients is disclosed. The sender highlights portions of the email and right clicks (or key command, button, or menu item) and selects an option to select recipients. The operator interface then provides the sender with the option of selecting recipients from their address book or the server's address book. To speed the process along, the sender may select those already on the To, Cc, or Bcc distribution lists. The sender then selects whether those chosen will receive the highlighted portion or if they will be excluded from receiving it. Lastly, the sender will have the option of providing text that is unique to each of the selected groups.
