    Abstract: An image fusion method and an image processing apparatus are provided. A first image is generated based on a first photographing parameter, and a second image is generated based on a second photographing parameter. A first pixel reference value of each of first pixels is calculated by using a self-define mask according to color components and a luminance component of the first pixels on the first image. A second pixel reference value of each of second pixels is calculated by using the self-define mask according to color components and a luminance component of the second pixels on the second image. A synthesizing reference map recording a plurality of synthesizing weights is obtained by comparing the first pixel reference value and the corresponding second pixel reference value. A fusion image is obtained by synthesizing the first image and the second image according to the synthesizing reference map.

Next, a palm component on the image is detected. Afterwards, a center of mass in the palm component is calculated according to a principal component analysis (PCA) algorithm, so as to use the center of mass to simulate a cursor. Then, a width of the palm of the palm component is calculated. Finally, the width of the palm is compared with a threshold so as to execute a click action if the width of the palm is greater than the threshold.

    Abstract: A video-based character input apparatus includes an image capturing unit, an image processing unit, a one-dimensional feature coding unit, a character database, a character recognizing unit, a display unit, and a stroke feature database. The image capturing unit captures an image. The image processing unit filters a moving track of a fingertip in the picture by detecting a graphic difference, then detecting a skin color and picking out a moving track most corresponding to a point of the object. The one-dimensional feature coding unit takes a stroke with respect to the moving track and converts the stroke into a coding sequence in a one-dimensional string according to a time sequence. The character recognizing unit proceeds with character comparison between the coding sequence in a one-dimensional string and the character database to find out a character having the most similarity for display one the display unit.

A video camera is used to acquire a hand image of a user, and then the image is analyzed and processed to move the cursor and to take place of functions of a mouse left button and a mouse right button. The user may use a ā€œVā€ shaped hand gesture to replace the mouse. An index finger image is corresponding to the mouse left button, and a middle finger image is corresponding to the mouse right button. A valley point of the ā€œVā€ shaped hand gesture is corresponding to the position of the cursor.
