Abstract: A logic circuit and a method for checking and updating program counter (PC) values in a pipeline architecture are provided. The logic circuit includes a checking circuit and a PC value determination circuit. The checking circuit checks a continuity of a current PC value and multiple flags related to a branch predictor, in order to generate a checking result, where the branch predictor is configured to control the multiple flags according to the current PC value. The PC value determination circuit selects one of multiple candidate PC values to be a subsequent PC value according to the checking result, where the current PC value corresponds to a current instruction, and the subsequent PC value corresponds to a subsequent instruction after the current instruction.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus including a memory circuit and a data accessing circuit is provided, in which the memory circuit includes multiple cache ways configured to store data. In response to a first logic state of an enabling signal, if a tag of an address of an access requirement is the same as a corresponding tag of the multiple cache ways, the data accessing circuit determines that a cache hit occurs. In response to a second logic state of the enabling signal, if the address is within one or more predetermined address intervals specified by the data accessing circuit, the data accessing circuit determines that the cache hit occurs, and if the address is outside the one or more predetermined address intervals, the data accessing circuit determines that a cache miss occurs.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for pipeline control are provided. The apparatus includes a preload predictor, an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) and a data buffer. The preload predictor is configured to determine whether a load instruction conforms to at least one specific condition, to generate a preload determination result. The ALU is configured to perform arithmetic logic operations, and the data buffer is configured to provide data for being used by the ALU. When the preload determination result indicates that the load instruction conforms to the at least one specific condition, the data buffer fetches preload data from a cache memory according to information carried by the load instruction and stores the preload data in the data buffer, where the preload data is data requested by a subsequent load instruction.

The adder is configured to sum outputs of the accumulator to generate the product of the first scalar second scalar and the third scalar when in scalar mode. The sub-product generator generates sub-products of the matrix and the first scalar when in matrix mode and sub-products of the second scalar and the third scalar when in scalar mode. The accumulator is configured to generate the product of the matrix and the first scalar by providing save of the multiplication operation of the outputs from the sub-product generator.
