  • Publication number: 20260041454
Abstract: A cannula system is provided that enables hands-free operation of cameras by a surgeon and provides 3D images of the surgical site. An exemplary cannula system comprises a cannula having a proximal end, a distal end, a central lumen, and an insertion axis. A disc is mounted to the distal end of the cannula. The disc has two separable half portions, and each separable half portion defines at least one internal slot. A camera is housed in each of the separable half portions in the internal slots. Each camera is aligned with the insertion axis and live streams during insertion of the cannula system to provide under vision insertion. An obturator is configured to be at least partially disposed within the central lumen of the cannula. When the obturator is removed the two separable half portions of the disc can be slid apart to surgical position.

  • Publication number: 20230277252
Abstract: A system for determining the position and orientation of a medical device relative to an image space during image-guided medical procedures. The system comprises a flexible pad mounted on the subject such that a part covers the region of interest. The pad incorporates detectable registration members. Prior to the procedure, the device is coupled to the pad, which is then rigidized, so that there is no movement of the registration members relative to each other and relative to the device. The fixed relation-ship between the device and the registration members is determined from initial images, for example using detectable markers attached to the device, enabling the pose of the device relative to the image space of images of the region of interest to be determined later, even if the device is remote from the region of interest. This minimizes exposure of the subject and medical staff to radiation.
