Patent number: 7082039Abstract: On a motherboard, a first slot for receiving a high-performance component that typically generates higher levels of heat and emissions is mounted next to a second slot for receiving a card that generates relatively lower levels of heat and emissions. The second slot is positioned between the first slot and the central processing unit (CPU) socket on the motherboard. Through this configuration, a CPU can be shielded from the heat and electromagnetic interference generated by with a high-performance component. The first slot can be positioned near the edge of the motherboard, further facilitating heat dissipation and access to the slot. In an embodiment, the first slot is an AGP slot and the second slot is a PCI slot.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2003Date of Patent: July 25, 2006Assignee: Shuttle Inc.Inventor: Chen Shih-Tsung

Publication number: 20060146498Abstract: A CPU cooling assembly includes a heat sink and a retainer. The heat sink includes a plurality of cooling fins and a positioning groove formed therein for receiving the retainer. The retainer includes opposing engaging plates coupled by a connecting bar. When the retainer is placed over the heat sink and engaged with the CPU frame, the connecting bar is received within the positioning groove. The retainer may further include a turn plate attached to an engaging plate, wherein the engaging plate can be activated to engage or disengage the cooling assembly with the CPU frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2003Publication date: July 6, 2006Inventor: Chen Shih-Tsung

Patent number: 7054164Abstract: A mounting device for an interface card includes a main unit housing and a holding plate. The holding plate is rotatably coupled to the main unit housing and positionable in an open position to allow an interface card to be installed, and in a closed position to secure an interface card. When an interface card is installed into a socket on the motherboard of the computer, a portion of an attach plate of the interface card extends between the locating plate and the holding plate, thereby securing the interface card. The attach plate of the interface card may also extend through a lower opening of the housing, which receives therethrough a portion of the card's attach plate.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2003Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: Shuttle Inc.Inventor: Chen Shih-Tsung

Publication number: 20060002074Abstract: A controlling device for controlling a slot shutter of a slot in a computer casing is provided for the user to operate easily and conveniently. The device includes a panel with the slot shutter, an operating button disposed on the panel and peripheral to the slot shutter, a link component disposed at an inner side of the panel and having a first end corresponding to the operating button and a second end corresponding to a tray controlling button, and a resilient member disposed on the link component for providing a resilience for the operating button. When the operating button is pressed, which generates a flexible location shift of the link component due to a flexibility thereof, the tray controlling button is compressed by the link component, such that the purpose of connectedly operating the tray controlling button through the operating button is accomplished. Accordingly, the operating button can be disposed at a position where is convenient for operating.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2004Publication date: January 5, 2006Inventor: Chen Shih-Tsung

Publication number: 20050287874Abstract: A large-area heat dissipation structure has a thermal conducting member and a heat sink assembly. The thermal conducting member has a large-area thermal conductive plate and a thermal conductive base protruding from a lower surface of the large-area thermal conductive plate. The heat sink assembly has a plurality of fins mounted to an upper surface of the thermal conducting member. A plurality of support members extends downwardly from the lower surface of the large-area thermal conductive plate.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2004Publication date: December 29, 2005Inventors: Stan Cheng, Chen Shih-Tsung
