  • Patent number: 8157260
Abstract: A roller module is adapted for use with an automatic document feeder, and is adapted for feeding of a document sheet therethrough. The roller module comprises a first roller, a second roller disposed adjacent to and parallel to the first roller and cooperating with the first roller to define a nip, a driven component co-rotatable with the first roller, and a driving component rotatable for abutting against and driving the driven component to rotate, thereby permitting feeding of the document sheet through the nip. During rotation of the driving component, the document sheet is brought into contact with the first and second rollers for a predetermined time period to perform skew correction before the driving component rotates the driven component.

  • Patent number: 7681882
Abstract: A de-skew mechanism, in an image forming device, with a correcting member disposed in a rotatable manner to the rotary shaft and turning with driving roller by a spring between them. A torque spring suppresses the turning of the correcting member to correct the skew of the medium. When conveyed, the medium will butt against the correcting member to be stopped and corrected. The medium conveying force and the force that the spring brings to the driving roller are sufficient for turning the correcting member and passing therethrough. At one time, the force that the correcting member brings to the medium will reduce to zero. As such, the medium will not be damaged by the correcting member while being conveyed.

  • Patent number: 7578504
Abstract: An automatic document feeder includes first, second, third, and fourth paths for guiding movement of a document. The document is fed through the first path and a scanning module so as to allow for scanning of a first side surface of the document. Thereafter, a switching gate is pivoted to a first position so as to allow the document to be moved from a front section of the second path onto a roller unit via the fourth path and a rear section of the third path. The rotational direction of the middle roller is changed in response to movement of the document onto the roller unit so as to allow the document to be moved onto the first path via the third path, thereby allowing for a subsequent scanning operation on a second side surface of the document. The automatic document feeder further includes a document-inverting path such that documents are automatically arranged according to paper number.

  • Patent number: 7573619
Abstract: A paper feeding mechanism for carrying a paper passing through a scanning station having a scanning module includes a partition, a paper transporting device, and a switching member movably disposed corresponding to one end of the partition. A first paper feeding channel is formed between the partition and the scanning station, and a second paper feeding channel is formed on another side of the partition. The paper transporting device carries the paper passing over the side of the partition through the first paper feeding channel with a first page of the paper facing the scanning module. Then, the paper is flipped for a second page of the paper facing the scanning module. The switching member can be selectively moved for guiding the paper passing through the first paper feeding channel or the second paper feeding channel.

  • Patent number: 7573618
Abstract: A paper pressing device for a scanning apparatus is provided, which include a scanning module and a paper track corresponding to the scanning module, wherein the paper track is provided for a paper sheet passing through. The paper pressing device includes a film and a pressing block. The film is disposed on one side of the paper track opposite to the scanning module. The pressing block is disposed on one side of the film opposite to the scanning module and presses against the film for reducing the height of the paper track above the scanning module. When the paper sheet is passes over the scanning module, the paper pressing device presses the paper sheet for maintaining the paper sheet flat while being scanned.

  • Publication number: 20090190976
Abstract: An automatic document feeder includes a first path extending from a feeding tray to a scanning module, a second path extending from the scanning module to a reversing roller unit, and a third path extending from the reversing roller unit to an intermediate portion of the first path. A document is moved from the feeding tray onto the reversing roller unit via the first and second paths for a first scanning. Just before the document is moved through the second path, the reversing roller unit is driven to allow the document to move therethrough. Subsequently, the document is reversed on the reversing roller unit to move through a looped passage defined by the third path, a portion of the first path downstream of the intermediate portion, and the second path for a second scanning. The reversing roller unit is operable to allow two opposite edges of the document to move thereon in different directions.
