  • Patent number: 5941107
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic lock having first and second disposed in axial alignment is provided. A first key inserted into the cylinders of the electronic lock sends an electronic signal to a solenoid which retracts a stopper from engagement with a latch plate upon turning the first key through an initial angle. Thereafter, the first key drives the first cylinder to drive a first cam which moves against a first cam follower to move the latch plate and withdraw the latch from locking engagement. In the event of an electronics failure and/or in order to manually override the electronics, a second key is inserted into the axially aligned cylinders. The second key initially drives the second cylinder to move a second cam against a second cam follower that bears against the stopper to remove the stopper from engagement with the latch plate.

  • Patent number: 5596630
Abstract: An anti-stuffing lead-in-chute device for coin acceptor on a payphone, having an assembly of a multi-angled lead-in-chute which communicates at its top gripping point with a draw bar on a lever. Said lever, in response to manual operation of the coin return release, pulls down said gripping point on top of said lead-in-chute assembly so that an outside plate opens up from its bottom. In the meantime, an arm, sitting between two panels, pushes center plate which in turn kicks out stuffing when a conventional plate on coin mechanism pops out in response to manual operation of coin return release. Also in response to manual operation of the coin return release, a thin spring hook rotates up and around an axis to facilitate clearance of stuffing near the coin slot. The entire assembly returns to its normal working position after releasing stuffed tissue, cloth or similar material.

  • Patent number: 5400396
Abstract: Apparatus to prevent the theft of coins in the coin return channel of pay phones and coin vending machines. Three vanes are pivotally mounted within or adjacent the return channel to provide a bypass path for returned coins so that blocking of the coin return door or the use of a wire attached to a coin for inserting a wad of material will not prevent retrieval by a user of the telephone or vending machine.
