    Abstract: Techniques described herein include a platform for providing user interaction with a vehicle's functions on a mobile device. In some embodiments, the vehicle and mobile device may both be in communication with a service provider computer, that may facilitate communications between the two. In some embodiments, a user is provided with various details related to the vehicle's condition as well as a list of functions that may be initiated by the user. The user is able to select one or more of the listed functions to be performed by the vehicle while located any distance from the vehicle. In some embodiments, the service provider computer may determine whether the user is authorized to initiate a particular vehicle function. Upon selection of a vehicle function from the list of vehicle functions, a processor device in the vehicle executes the function.

    Abstract: The present application relates to a terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system. In this terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system, the femtosecond laser light radiated by the femtosecond laser is collimated by a first diaphragm, and then is split by a beam splitter into a pump light and a probe light. The pump light passes through the first light path module to generate a terahertz pulse, and the probe light passes through the first light path module to generate a linear polarization probe light having the same optical distance as that of the pump light. The linear polarization probe light and the terahertz pulse are combined by a beam combiner to obtain a light beam to be detected carrying the terahertz pulse information. Two electro-optical crystals with the same thickness are used in a detection device simultaneously.

    Abstract: A vehicle may have optical structures such as windows and mirrors that have the potential to allow glare from external objects to shine into the eyes of a driver or other vehicle occupant. A control circuit may gather information on where the eyes of the driver are located using a camera mounted in the vehicle and may gather information on where the sun or other source of glare are located outside of the vehicle. Based on this information, the control circuit may direct a light modulator on a window or mirror to selectively darken an area that prevents the glare from reaching the eyes of the driver. The light modulator may have a photochromic layer that is adjusted by shining light onto the photochromic layer, may be a liquid crystal modulator, an electrochromic modulator, or other light modulator layer.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for managing metadata in a data storage device. In some embodiments, a metadata object has entries that describe data sets stored in a non-volatile write cache. During an archival (persistence) operation, the metadata object is divided into portions, and the portions are copied in turn to a non-volatile memory at a rate that maintains a measured latency within a predetermined threshold. A journal is formed of time-ordered entries that describe changes to the metadata object after the copying of the associated portions to the non-volatile memory. The journal is subsequently stored to the non-volatile memory, and may be subsequently combined with the previously stored portions to recreate the metadata object in a local memory. The measured performance latency may be related to a specified customer command completion time (CCT) for host commands.
