  • Publication number: 20180079315
Abstract: A DC link capacitor in a drive system for an electric vehicle is quickly discharged using only local action within an inverter module and without any extra components to dissipate the charge. The inverter has a phase leg comprising an upper switching device and a lower switching device coupled across the capacitor. A gate driver is coupled to the phase leg to alternately switch the switching devices to ON state according to a PWM signal during pulse-width modulation of the drive system. The gate driver is configured to discharge the link capacitor during a discharge event by simultaneously activating the upper and lower switching devices to transitional states. Thus use of transitional states ensures that the switching devices provide an impedance that dissipates the capacitor charge while protecting the devices from excessive temperature.

Abstract: Methods and systems may provide for facial recognition of at least one input image utilizing hierarchical feature learning and pair-wise classification. Receptive field theory may be used on the input image to generate a pre-processed multi-channel image. Channels in the pre-processed image may be activated based on the amount of feature rich details within the channels. Similarly, local patches may be activated based on the discriminant features within the local patches. Features may be extracted from the local patches and the most discriminant features may be selected in order to perform feature matching on pair sets. The system may utilize patch feature pooling, pair-wise matching, and large-scale training in order to quickly and accurately perform facial recognition at a low cost for both system memory and computation.

  • Publication number: 20180084558
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for managing coexistence of multiple wireless devices that share a radio frequency band and communicate with a wireless network device. The wireless devices include both wireless personal area network (WPAN) and wireless local area network (WLAN) devices. The wireless network device monitors data activity for WPAN devices to determine whether the WPAN devices are active or inactive, and sets one or more polling intervals for the WPAN devices accordingly. The wireless network device consolidates polling for multiple WPAN devices into a common WPAN polling time period and sends a radio frequency (RF) reservation request to a WLAN access point (AP), the RF reservation request including an indication of a duration for the common WPAN polling time period, during which the multiple WPAN devices are polled. WLAN data packet transmission is delayed during the common WPAN polling time period to mitigate coexistence interference.
