    Abstract: A process for treating the surface of magnesium alloy comprises providing a substrate made of magnesium alloy. Then an inorganic chemical conversion film is formed on the substrate by an inorganic chemical conversion treatment. An organic chemical conversion film is subsequently formed on the inorganic chemical conversion film by an organic chemical conversion treatment. Then a ceramic coating comprising refractory metal compound is formed on the chemical conversion film by physical vapor deposition. An article made of magnesium alloy created by the present process also is provided.
