    Abstract: A laser distance sensor (LDS) performs multiple measurement attempts with different values of operating parameters, e.g. of laser power gain (GL) or received light amplifier gain (GTIA). The parameter values, and the order of values for different measurement attempts, are determined from analysis of prior measurement data. Such data may include parameter values used in prior satisfactory measurements. The parameter values, the order indication, and other measurement information are stored by the LDS for use in subsequent measurements. Machine learning is performed to analyze stored data and determine the best parameter values and order for the current measurement.

    Abstract: A passive sensor unit that is powered wirelessly and communicates with a reader unit that powers the pass sensor unit is presented. In some embodiments, a passive sensor unit includes a sensor; a receive coil; a circuit coupled to the sensor, the circuit configured to receive sensor data from the sensor; and a wireless power circuit configured to receive power from the receive coil and configured to provide power to the circuit. The pass sensor unit is unpowered except proximate to the reader unit. A sensor system can include one or more passive sensor units, each of the one or more passive sensors configured to receive wireless power from a receiver coil and communicate data through the receiver coil; and one or more reader units, each of the one or more receiver units configured to supply power and communicate with a set of the one or more passive sensor units.

    Abstract: Integrated circuit devices include first and second periodic signal generators and a power down detection circuit. The first periodic signal generator is configured to generate at least a first periodic signal having a first frequency at an output thereof and the second periodic signal generator is configured to generate a second periodic signal having a second frequency less than the first frequency at an output thereof. The power down detection circuit is configured to selectively provide one or the other of the first and second periodic signals to an output terminal of the integrated circuit device, in response to monitoring a status of a signal received at an input terminal of the integrated circuit device. This received signal reflects a power down status of an external device that receives the selected one of the first and second periodic signals.

    Abstract: A peripheral power management system includes a power monitor for determining a power consumption characteristic of a computing processor and a controller for generating a reference power signal based on the power consumption characteristic. The peripheral power management system also includes a power regulator control signal generator for generating a power regulator control signal based on the reference power signal. The power regulator control signal controls a peripheral device power regulator which regulates an electrical supply power of a peripheral device. In this way, the peripheral power management system controls regulation of the electrical supply power of the peripheral device based on the power consumption characteristic of the computing processor. In some embodiments, the peripheral power management system determines the power consumption characteristic of the computing processor by monitoring communication on a serial voltage identification bus.
