  • Publication number: 20170171699
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in a communication system supported by or configured with personal computing devices, servers and/or platforms. The systems interact to identify and retrieve data across computers and platforms, which can be used to improve the quality of data used in processing interactions between or among processors in such systems. The disclosed systems and methods perform spatial sensing in order to locate adjacent devices via asymmetric Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) received signal strength indication (RSSI) distributions. Such spatial location between adjacent devices enables the devices to communicate, share, generate and/or consume digital information as a single, connected and/or localized logical unit.

  • Publication number: 20170131890
Abstract: A method, program product, and system for inputting Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) characters into a touchscreen-enabled device is provided. The touchscreen-enabled device receives a plurality of finger touch events. Each of the plurality of finger touch events is a CJK text input stroke associated with a corner of the touchscreen-enabled device. A finger touch movement direction on the touchscreen-enabled device is determined for each of the plurality of finger touch events. In response to determining the finger touch movement direction, the finger touch movement direction associated with each of the plurality of finger touch events is converted to a numeric index value. The corner that is activated by each of the plurality of finger touch events is determined and associated to the numeric index value.

  • Publication number: 20170046970
Abstract: A computer system can receive a request for a user corresponding to a user profile to access a first digital content. Based upon the user profile, a literacy level for the user can be determined at the computer system. Based upon the first digital content, a literacy level for the first digital content can be determined at the computer system. In response to determining a difference between the literacy level for the user and the literacy level for the first digital content, a second digital content corresponding to the literacy level for the user and related to the first digital can be generated for display on a user interface.

  • Publication number: 20170041096
Abstract: A technique for cancelling interference in a cellular network (100) is provided. The cellular network (100) comprises intra-frequency cells (102, 104, 106) sending a first identifying signal indicative of a first identifier (ID1) and a second identifying signal indicative of a second identifier (ID2). Each of the cells is identified by a combination of the first identifier and the second identifier. As to a method aspect of the technique, first samples of the first identifying signal are extracted from a signal received by a User Equipment (120). The first samples include contributions from different cells (104, 106) of the cellular network (100). A first set of sample points is selected based on the first samples and a first candidate (104-1) for the first identifier (ID1). Second samples of the second identifying signal are extracted from the received signal. The second sample includes contributions from the different cells (104, 106).

  • Patent number: 9551780
Abstract: An approach is provided in which an RFID reader receives a response signal from an RFID tag affixed to an object. The RFID reader determines a tag charging time of the RFID tag based upon a first point in time that the RFID reader sent a request signal to the RFID tag and a second point in time that the response signal was received by the RFID reader. In turn, the RFID reader identifies a location of the object based on the tag charging time and generates a notification that includes the location of the object.

  • Publication number: 20160352442
Abstract: A technique for measuring Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) is provided. The RSRP is measured based on Cell-specific Reference Signals (CRSs) provided by cells (102, 104) of a mobile telecommunications network (100). The CRSs of at least two of the cells overlap in time and frequency. As to a method aspect of the technique, a time offset for sub-frames received from the at least two cells is determined. The overlapping CRSs are received for a group of sub-carriers. A coarse channel state is estimated for each of the at least two cells by multiplying the received overlapping CRSs with a function of phase-shifted CRSs. The phase-shifted CRSs of different sub-carriers in the group include a phase-shift that corresponds to the determined time offset. The RSRP is measured for each of the at least two cells based on the estimated coarse channel state.
