Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a neighbor node having a similar characteristic to that of an active node, the method including: generating a neighbor list containing information about at least one neighbor node; selecting at least one parent node from among the at least one neighbor node; determining fitness parameters using a characteristic value of the active node, characteristic values of the at least one neighbor node included in the neighbor list of the active node, and characteristic values of at least one neighbor node included in a neighbor list of each parent node; and updating the neighbor list of the active node according to values of the determined fitness parameters.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for predicting content preferences of an active user with reference to content preferences of other users that are similar to those of the active user, the method including: measuring similarity ratios of the active user and other users using an overlapping ratio of use of content items commonly used between the active user and the respective other users; generating a recommender list for the active user based on the measured similarity ratios; and predicting a preference rating of the first user with respect to an unused content item based on a preference rating of an other user included in the recommender list with respect to the unused content item. Accordingly, the similarity ratio between the users can be accurately measured so that reliability of a preference rating prediction system can be increased.

Abstract: A method to provide content summary information by using a web content syndication format includes selecting keywords which satisfy a predetermined condition from among a plurality of keywords extracted from a plurality of pieces of content summary information, indicating at least one of the selected keywords through a user selection from among the selected keywords, and displaying a plurality of pieces of content summary information all of which are related to the indicated keyword.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for constructing a user profile using a content tag, a method of recommending digital content by using a user profile including a tag included in the digital content and a preference value for the tag. According to the methods and apparatus, a user profile is generated by using a content tag, and thus the taste of the user according to digital content consumption can be expressed in more varied ways. Also, by suggesting a method of generating a tag from web content, construction of a user profile for digital content having no tag is enabled. Furthermore, a tag extracted from digital content used by a user is included in a profile and it can be used for a variety of purposes, such as expansion of a comparison scope, use of preference keywords, providing of content links, and expansion of search scope.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a recommendation content list by the cooperation of user groups. Sets of content that are classified according to a predetermined criterion are distributed to user terminals within a user terminal group. Assessment information on the content included in the sets of content is collected from the corresponding user terminals, and the recommendation content list is then generated based on the collected assessment information.

Abstract: An apparatus for managing information about a mobile network service in a server that manages a network providing the mobile network service, including an information change identification unit which identifies a change in the information about the mobile network service, an information transmission unit that transmits a message including the changed information to an information server, and a positive acknowledgement message receiving unit that receives from the information server a positive acknowledgement message that represents acceptance of the changed information. When information about the network service is changed, a message including the changed information is transmitted to the information server, and the message is re-transmitted to the information server a predetermined number of times until the information server transmits an ACK response that indicates acceptance of the changed information.

The method of receiving data by a first device from a second device includes generating a session initiation protocol (SIP) message including information on a data reception environment of the first device; transmitting the generated message to the second device; and receiving data transmitted by the second device based on the transmitted information. Accordingly, data transmission in consideration of a reception environment of a device for receiving data is possible, so that the quality of a data service is guaranteed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for configuring an (Internet protocol) IP address, an information server, and an information storage medium storing a data format of a message therefor. The method includes obtaining information on a method of configuring an IP address of a new network after a handover is performed by using an IS (information server); and configuring the IP address using the method of configuring the IP while a mobile terminal accesses the new network, thereby avoiding an unnecessary delay due to an address configuration method that is not supported in the new network, and configuring the IP address quickly and efficiently.

The method of performing handover in a mobile node includes determining an intrinsic value of a current PoA to which the mobile node is connected; and performing handover using the determined intrinsic value. The mobile node that does not include a GPS or does not support a specific protocol transmits the location thereof to an IS using an PoA identifier that is an intrinsic value of a current PoA to which the MN is connected, so that the IS can be informed of the current PoA, and quickly and promptly determine adjacent PoAs for performing handover.

Abstract: A digital broadcast receiving apparatus and method of reducing an output time of broadcast content, includes for the apparatus, a transport stream generator generating a transport stream from a digital broadcast signal, a transport stream buffer buffering the transport stream, a controller determining whether the buffered transport stream is reliable; a transport stream processor searching for interpretation information for interpreting broadcast content from the buffered transport stream, and searching for the broadcast content based on the interpretation information, if the buffered transport stream is determined as reliable, and an audio and video processor processing the searched broadcast content. Therefore, it is possible to quickly output and provide broadcast content to users.

Abstract: A quality of service (QoS) securing apparatus and method using a communication protocol is provided. The QoS securing method is performed by a reception side that is receiving data from a transmission side. The method includes generating information about a changed communication environment according to a change in a communication environment of the reception side, and transmitting the information to the transmission side. An exchange of information about a communication environment using the communication protocol between the reception side and the transmission side can inform the transmission side about resources of the reception side, link characteristics, characteristics of a link on a transmission path, etc., thereby securing a QoS of data communication between the reception side and the transmission side.

Abstract: A method of adjusting a size of a base transceiver station (BTS) search window for adjusting the size of the search window, which the BTS uses to acquire a signal of a mobile station, according to a service radius and modifying a location of the search window, thereby improving efficiency in acquiring an access signal and controlling a service area. The method comprises the steps of: determining a service radius in which the BTS can acquire an access signal of a mobile station; reading a size of a preamble search window and a preamble search range corresponding to the determined service radius from a table used for determination of the size of the search window, the table being stored in a database; and modifying the size of the search window by changing search window parameters of the BTS system according to the read search range and the size of the search window for the preamble.
