  • Patent number: 7140844
Abstract: A variable capacity rotary compressor including upper and lower compression chambers having different interior capacities, and a rotating shaft. Upper and lower eccentric cams are provided on the rotating shaft to be eccentric from the rotating shaft in a same direction. Upper and lower eccentric bushes are fitted over the upper and lower eccentric cams, respectively, in such a way that a maximum eccentric part of the upper eccentric bush is opposite to that of the lower eccentric bush, with a slot provided between the upper and lower eccentric bushes. A locking pin functions to change a position of the upper or lower eccentric bush to a maximum eccentric position. Further, upper and lower brake units are respectively provided between the upper eccentric cam and the upper eccentric bush, and between the lower eccentric cam and the lower eccentric bush.

  • Patent number: 7104764
Abstract: A variable capacity rotary compressor is designed to prevent eccentric bushes from slipping during a compression operation, thus preventing noise from being generated and increasing durability. The compressor includes a housing to define two compression chambers having different capacities therein. A rotating shaft is rotated in the compression chambers. Two eccentric cams are mounted to the rotating shaft. Two eccentric bushes are rotatably fitted over the eccentric cams. Two rollers are rotatably fitted over the eccentric bushes. Two vanes are installed in the compression chambers to be reciprocated in a radial direction of the rotating shaft. A cylindrical connecting part integrally connects the eccentric bushes to each other, with a locking slot being provided around the connecting part.

  • Patent number: 7070395
Abstract: A variable capacity rotary compressor to prevent an eccentric bush and a locking pin from being deformed or worn out due to a variance in a pressure of a compression chamber as a rotating shaft rotates. The compressor includes upper and lower compression chambers having different interior capacities thereof, and a rotating shaft. Upper and lower eccentric cams are provided on the rotating shaft to be eccentric from the rotating shaft in a common direction. Upper and lower eccentric bushes are fitted over the upper and lower eccentric cams, respectively, with a slot provided at a position between the upper and lower eccentric bushes. The locking pin operates to change a position of the upper or lower eccentric bush to a maximum eccentric position. Further, surfaces of parts around first and second ends of the slot are heat-treated, thus increasing a hardness thereof.

  • Patent number: 7040107
Abstract: An air conditioner has a variable capacity rotary compressor, which allows the compressor to be smoothly re-started, thus increasing start reliability of the compressor. The air conditioner includes a compressor rotated in opposite directions. A drive unit rotates the compressor in a forward or reverse direction. A start determining unit determines whether the compressor has started to rotate in a forward direction or not. A control unit operates the drive unit so as to rotate the compressor in a direction opposite to the forward direction, and then re-start the compressor in the forward direction, when the compressor has failed to start. The air conditioner and a method of controlling the air conditioner allow the compressor to be smoothly and rapidly re-started even when the compressor has failed to re-start, thus increasing start reliability, and shortening a time required to re-start the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20050152786
Abstract: A turbo compressor comprising a driving motor, an impeller to be rotated by the driving motor, a second gas suction part through which gas is introduced into the impeller, and a discharger through which the gas is discharged from the impeller, the turbo compressor comprises a shroud provided between the gas suction part and the gas discharger and spaced from a blade of the impeller; and a plurality of channels provided on the shroud and inclined toward the gas discharger along a rotating direction of the impeller. With this configuration, the present invention provides a turbo compressor in which compression efficiency is increased by eliminating a backflow and a leakage flow.

  • Patent number: 6892548
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a variable capacity rotary compressor and a refrigerant cycle system having the variable capacity rotary compressor. The compressor includes a cooling unit and a pressure reducing unit to reduce temperature and pressure of a bypassed refrigerant, thus allowing the bypassed refrigerant to have the same temperature and pressure as when entering a cylinder at first. The compressor includes the cylinder in which a refrigerant is compressed. An inlet pipe delivers the refrigerant into the cylinder. An outlet pipe delivers the refrigerant out of the cylinder. A bypass hole is provided at a predetermined position of the cylinder to bypass the refrigerant from the cylinder, thus varying a compression capacity. A bypass pipe connects the bypass hole to the inlet pipe to allow the refrigerant bypassed through the bypass hole to enter the cylinder. The cooling unit cools the refrigerant flowing through the bypass pipe.
