    Abstract: Compositions useful in the prevention and treatment of rotaviral infections are disclosed. The subject compositions contain cholesterol 3-sulfate or functional derivatives thereof. Cholesterol 3-sulfate avidly binds rotavirus in thin layer overlay assays and inhibits rotavirus in plaque reduction assays. These compositions can be used to prevent and ameliorate rotaviral infections.
