The system includes at least one pair of sense electrodes (14) and one reference electrode (16), each configured to be adhesively attached to a surface of the body (30). An electronics module (12) is in electrical communication with each of the electrodes, includes a power source, and processes and analyzes signals provided by the electrodes. The plurality of electrodes and the electronics module are covered by a single adhesive membrane (20) that enables the wearable device to adhere to the surface of the body.

    Abstract: A hub for connecting a medical catheter in fluid communication with a medical device, such as a syringe, includes a tubular shaped body member which has an outer surface that is formed with a plurality of grips. The hub also has a pair or diametrically opposed wings which extend from the outer surface of the body member and it has a proximal end which is formed as a female luer fitting for engagement with the medical device. The distal end of the hub is formed with a spiral strain relief element having a passageway which receives the proximal end of the medical catheter. In operation, the spiral relief element supports the medical catheter and prevents kinking of the catheter near the hub during flexure of the catheter by providing for a progressive transition from the relative rigidity of the hub to the flexure required by the catheter.

    Abstract: A socket has a gelatinous core to provide an enhanced cushioning effect for a residual limb. The gelatinous material is covered by a flexible inner cover that shields the skin of the residual limb from the gel and by a flexible outer cover that shields the inner wall of a prosthetic frame from the gel. The inner cover prevents the gel from absorbing body oils and therefore eliminates odors associated with liners formed of gelatinous materials. A self-inflating foam pad is positioned between the inner and outer covers to adjust the fit as needed when the residual limb changes in volume. The pad initially has substantially no air in its interstitial spaces and air is admitted when the patient opens a valve. This prevents over-pressurization of the pad because the maximum pressure that can be exerted by the pad is determined by the prosthetist when the patient is fitted with a prosthesis.

    Abstract: An assembly is disclosed for mounting articles such as soap dishes, towel hangers, handles, and the like, to a recessed stud that lies behind a non-structural wall, such as the side wall of a pre-fabricated fiberglass bathroom shower. A fascia plate has a mounting surface on one side, and a cup-shaped portion on the other side. The cup has an internal thread that engages an external thread of an elongated stud. The elongated stud has an axial through hole for receiving a screw that has a screwhead and a threaded shaft. The screw is inserted into the through hole of the stud, and then inserted into a hole formed in the non-structural wall and screwed into the recessed stud. The cup portion of the fascia plate is then inserted into the hole in the non-structural wall and screwed onto the external thread of the elongated stud. As such, the mounting surface of the fascia plate is rigidly supported by the recessed stud for mounting the articles thereto.

    Abstract: A liner that covers an amputation stump and which cushions the stump when it is placed into a prosthesis socket includes selectively inflatable bladders foe customizing the liner to fit individual patients. The liner is made of two liner parts, one being an inner liner and the other being an outer liner. The inner liner is placed onto the amputation stump and a prosthetist determines the region or regions where bladders are needed to provide a comfortable fit. The region or regions are outlined with an adhesive and the outer liner is then brought into overlying relation to the inner liner so that the two liner parts adhere to one another along the outlined regions. Upon inflation, the inner liner conforms to the shape of the amputation stump to provide enhanced cushioning and the outer liner conforms to the shape of the interior wall of the socket and the patient receives a custom fit from a simple appliance.
