  • Patent number: 5620166
Abstract: A valve comprises a body for connecting to a pipe, the body having a passageway therethrough for communicating with the pipe; a member disposed within the passageway, the member being movable between open and closed positions for permitting and stopping flow through the pipe, respectively; a stem secured to the member; a nut operably secured to the stem, the nut being axially stationary relative to the stem and rotatable thereabout; an actuator for rotating the nut such that rotation of the nut causes the stem to move the member between the open and closed positions; a first bearing adapted to radially center the stem within the nut, the first bearing adapted to permit the stem to slide axially relative thereto; and a second bearing operably associated with the first bearing adapted to reduce rotational friction between the nut and the stem.
