Patent number: 8984886Abstract: A method for operating a catalytic reforming assembly. The method includes injecting a quantity of oxidizer gas and a quantity of combustion gas into a reformer to form a mixture. The mixture is channeled across a catalyst bed to form a reformate gas stream. A temperature of the catalyst bed is measured using at least one temperature sensor. A level of the oxidizer gas in the reformate stream is measured using at least one oxidizer gas sensor. A health of the catalyst bed is determined based on at least one of a catalyst bed temperature measurement and an oxidizer gas level.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2010Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Chetan Babu Velkur, Hasan Karim

Publication number: 20120240586Abstract: A burner tube to provide combustible materials to a combustor is provided and includes an annular shroud and a center body, having a cavity defined therein, disposed within the annular shroud to form an annular passage, the annular passage being communicable with a combustion zone of the combustor at an aft portion thereof and including a fore portion in which fuel is injected into the annular passage. The center body includes a surface having a passage defined therein through which air is to be supplied to the annular passage from the cavity at a position, which is downstream from the fuel injection and upstream from the combustion zone. Also provided is a contouring of the centerbody.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2012Publication date: September 27, 2012Applicant: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANYInventors: RAMANAND SINGH, ATUL KUMAR VIJ, CHETAN BABU VELKUR

Publication number: 20100300102Abstract: A method includes receiving fuel and air into a cup of a turbine fuel nozzle. The method also includes mixing the fuel and air at least partially within the cup. In addition, the method includes directing a fuel air mixture toward a turbine combustor. The method also includes shielding an inner wall of the cup with a blanket of a protective fluid flow to reduce the possibility of flame holding along the inner wall. The protective fluid flow excludes a combustible mixture of fuel and air.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 28, 2009Publication date: December 2, 2010Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventors: Mahesh Bathina, Chetan Babu Velkur, Senthamil Selvan, Anand Prafulchandra Desai, Abinash Baruah
