  • Publication number: 20050088405
Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a pivot unit coupled to a main housing and a cover body such that the cover body is pivotable about a longitudinal axis parallel to a top surface of the main housing, and about a vertical axis transverse to the top surface of the main housing. A virtual control key module configures a display panel mounted on a first surface of the cover body to show simulated control keys thereon when the portable electronic device is operated in a mode, where the cover body is superimposed on the main housing such that a second surface of the cover body opposite to the first surface faces toward the top surface of the main housing. The simulated control keys have distinct functions assigned thereto and are available for selection so as to enable execution of the function assigned to a selected simulated control key.

  • Patent number: 6437051
Abstract: The present invention provides a graft copolymer of a syndiotactic styrene/para-alkylstyrene copolymer, having the formula of wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, and primary and secondary haloalkyl; X is a functional group selected from a group containing halogen, oxygen, sulfur, silicon, nitrogen, carbon, phosphorus, and mixtures thereof; Y is an atactic polymer moiety; a ranges from 10 to 30000; b ranges from 0 to 30000; c ranges from 0 to 30000; and d ranges from 1 to 30000. The compatibility of the graft copolymer of syndiotactic styrene/para-alkylstyrene copolymer of the present invention with other polymers is improved over a syndiotactic styrene polymer. Also, the graft copolymer of the present invention can serve as a compatibilizer for a polymer blend.

  • Patent number: 6200147
Abstract: An interface device includes a base, a lift mechanism, and a linkage mechanism. The base has a front end, a rear end, left and right sides between the front and rear ends, a top face adapted for placement of a portable computer thereon, a bottom face, and a connector housing. The connector housing is formed at the rear end of the base, and has an upright front wall extending upwardly from the top face of the base. A connector is mounted on the front wall of the connector housing at a predetermined height relative to the top face, and is adapted for engaging a mating connector of the portable computer. The lift mechanism is mounted on the base and is adapted for moving the portable computer upwardly and downwardly relative to the top face of the base so that the mating connector of the portable computer can register with and engage the connector on the base. The linkage mechanism is mounted on the base, and is connected operatively to the lift mechanism in order to actuate the lift mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5928017
Abstract: An externally connected expansion device of portable computer. The expansion device includes an engaging unit and an outward pushing unit. The expansion device has a forward extending seat body disposed with an engaging block. When the portable computer is connected with the expansion device, the engaging block is first lowered and then lifted. After the portable computer is connected with the expansion device, the top section of the engaging block is inserted into an engaging hole formed at rear end of the bottom of the portable computer to engage the portable computer with the expansion device. Two sides of front end of the expansion device are disposed with pushing members drivingly connected with a handle. When it is desired to separate the portable computer from the expansion device, the top section of the engaging block is first sunk into the seat body and then a user can pull the handle to force the pushing members to push the portable computer out of the expansion device.
