  • Publication number: 20050129750
Abstract: A process for the large scale production of a liposome suspension, in which three selected lipid compounds in a predetermined ratio are dissolved in an alcohol solvent to form a mixture, which, in turn, is directly admixed with an aqueous ammonium sulfate solution in a predetermined ratio. The resultant mixture is subjected to a pore-extrusion treatment, followed by dialyzing the pore-extruded mixture with a 5% to 15% sucrose aqueous solution, such that a liposome suspension containing liposome particles suspended in the liposome suspension is obtained. The thus obtained liposome suspension can be used to encapsulate a selected drug, in particular doxorubicin.
