  • Patent number: 6726093
Abstract: The present invention is related to a key structure with scissors-shaped frame and a keyboard including the key. The key structure includes a base, a cap, a balance bar, and a scissors-shaped frame. The cap moves vertically relative to the base due to the movement of scissors-shaped frame. The scissors-shaped frame includes a first end portion, a second end portion, a third end portion, and a fourth end portion. The first and second end portions are coupled to the cap, and the third and fourth end portions are coupled to the base. The balance bar connects to the second end portion.

  • Patent number: 6614364
Abstract: A computer keyboard includes abase stand, a membrane circuit board installed on the base stand and a plurality of key mechanisms. The membrane circuit board has a plurality of pressure sensors for generating key-pressing signals and each of the key mechanisms is positioned above one of the pressure sensors. The rubber membrane includes a connecting membrane and a plurality of upwardly protruding rubber domes that can be easily detached from the connecting membrane. Each of the rubber domes is positioned above one of the pressure sensors of the membrane circuit board to support the key mechanism above it. When installing the rubber membrane, the rubber domes of the rubber membrane are placed above and glued to the pressure sensors of the membrane circuit board. Then the connecting membrane of the rubber membrane is torn away, leaving the rubber domes on the membrane circuit board.

  • Patent number: 6581483
Abstract: An air buffer type apparatus for key durability testing upon a keyboard is provided to carry out a durability test that can mimic a real finger typing operation. The apparatus includes a driving unit, a buffer unit and a depressing unit. The driving unit has a closed air space with a constant internal air pressure. The depressing unit is driven by the driving unit and further includes a plurality of abreasting air cylinders. Each air cylinder includes a pressure zone and a depressing head for depressing the key in the testing. The buffer unit can provide pressure buffering during the key pressing operation.

  • Patent number: 6531671
Abstract: A membrane circuit board switch used in a keyboard for generating key-pressing signals. The membrane circuit board switch has an upper membrane circuit layer, a lower membrane circuit layer, and a plurality of switch units. Each switch unit has a predetermined space between the upper and lower membrane circuit layers. The membrane circuit board switch particularly has a pressure regulating reservoir communicating with the predetermined spaces. When atmospheric pressure changes, the pressure regulating reservoir will adjust the pressure inside the predetermined spaces to make the predetermined distance keeping substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 6137071
Abstract: An improved multiple-width keyswitch capable of inhibiting noise thereof induced during operation is provided. The multiple-width keyswitch includes a keycap and a substrate. During operation, the keycap moves vertically relative to the substrate. The keycap defines a lower surface which is provided with a plurality of bosses. The substrate is provided with a plurality of openings. Each of the plurality of openings is disposed under one corresponding boss and covered with a deformable layer. When the keycap moves downward to turn on the keyswitch, each of the bosses first impacts the deformable layer into the corresponding opening such that the impact energy of the keycap is absorbed by the deformable layer. Thereby the noise induced by the impact of the keycap can be effectively inhibited. Embodiments and equivalent modifications of the invention are described in detail in the specification.
