  • Patent number: 4510286
Abstract: Disclosed is a bonding resin composition composed of a blend consisting essentially of (a) maleic anhydride-modified, stereoregular polypropylene having a combined maleic anhydride content of about 0.5-0.8% by weight of said modified polypropylene, and (b) base polymer material at about 25 parts by weight per part by weight of said maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene. The base polymer material is selected from a group of two combinations. One combination consists essentially of stereoregular polypropylene and essentially crystalline, sequentially polymerized propylene-ethylene product having a combined ethylene content of about 25% by weight of the product. The weight ratio of the polypropylene to the product is about 1:3-3:1.

  • Patent number: 4378404
Abstract: Disclosed is a composition comprising crystalline polypropylene, a hydrogenated copolymer of vinyl toluene and alpha-methyl styrene, and low density polyethylene, which composition has improved extrudability compared to polypropylene alone. Also disclosed are a coated substrate in which the coating is said composition, and a method of making a coated substrate, which comprises extrusion coating the substrate with the composition.

  • Patent number: 4274251
Abstract: Methods of making network structures include forming on one side of a sheet of thermoplastic polymer a plurality of parallel continuous main ribs and forming on the other side of the sheet in a different direction a plurality of parallel discontinuous tie ribs. The tie ribs are discontinuous in the areas where they cross over the main ribs to eliminate any increased thickness at the cross-over points of the main ribs and tie ribs. The ribbed sheet thus formed is drawn in either one direction or in two preferably perpendicular directions to open the sheet into a network structure and to orient the main ribs and preferably also to orient the tie ribs.

    Filed: October 16, 1978
Date of Patent: June 23, 1981

  • Patent number: 4144368
Abstract: Methods of making network structures include forming on one side of a sheet of thermoplastic polymer a plurality of parallel continuous main ribs and forming on the other side of the sheet in a different direction a plurality of continuous parallel tie ribs, with the ratio of cross-sectional areas of the main ribs to the tie ribs preferably being 1.5:1 or greater and the ratio of the height of the main ribs to the thickness of the webs between the main ribs being 3:1 or greater. The ribbed sheet thus formed is drawn in either one direction or in two preferably perpendicular directions to open the sheet into a network structure and to orient the main ribs and preferably also to orient the tie ribs.

  • Patent number: 4140826
Abstract: It has been found that reticulated web structures having a uniform thickness, soft hand and high strength-to-weight ratio comprising a first set of oriented substantially parallel flat filaments running in the machine direction intersecting a second set of oriented substantially parallel flat filaments running in the cross-machine direction, where the said filaments all have a rectangular cross-section, with the width of the filaments being at least 1.
