  • Publication number: 20060036168
Abstract: An electrohydraulic shock wave-generating system for extracorporeal therapy of renal stones or musculoskeletal disorders includes a shock wave generator, a micro high-sensitivity camera, and a gap-controlling unit. The shock wave generator includes a truncated ellipsoidal bowl and two electrodes, each electrode having a portion inside the bowl, with a gap being defined between the electrodes. The micro high-sensitivity camera acquires an image of the electrodes for finding a size of the gap. The gap-controlling unit controls the size of the gap and moves at least one of the electrodes to adjust the size of the gap. A medical treatment for fragmenting stones or for curing musculoskeletal disorders can be carried out without increasing the operational voltage applied to the electrodes under gap control provided by the system. The system also includes a computer control unit to provide automatic control of the gap.

  • Publication number: 20060033472
Abstract: A charging apparatus applied in a portable electronic product comprises a charging battery, a controlling chip, an adjusting transistor, a feedback circuit and a charger with modulateable output. The charger has an external alternating-current power source, and the charger provides a changeable voltage to the charging battery of the portable electronic product. Signals of electric quantities of the charging battery is captured by the feedback circuit to feedback to the charger to adjust its output voltage and then control the charger to charge the charging battery to achieve changeable voltage. Besides, only use the switch transistor to control charging the charging battery to reduce spare amounts and loss of circuit.

  • Publication number: 20050250049
Abstract: Device and method for exposing photoresists on semiconductor wafers without using physical masks while improving significantly the time- and cost-efficiencies for the manufacturing of integrated-circuit chips. Two electromagnetic sources of different wavelengths are used as the light sources, with the one having longer wavelength functioning as the control light beam while the one with an appropriately shorter wavelength is used to eventually expose the photoresists on semiconductor wafers. Images of the desired circuit patterns are first imposed onto the longer wavelength control light beam using, for example but not limited to, laser diode arrays, light emitting diode arrays, and devices similar to liquid crystal displays. The image-carrying control light beam interacts inside the bi-wavelength saturable absorber with the short-wavelength exposure light beam which carries initially a uniform intensity profile.

  • Publication number: 20050170383
Abstract: A microarray hybridization assembly for conducting hybridization assay analysis is disclosed. The microarray assembly comprises a slide, a slide cover, and a spacer disposed between the slide and slide cover. The slide cover is placed over the slide and the spacer maintains a gap between the parallel surfaces of the slide and slide cover to create a reaction region for hybridization reactions between attached probe molecules and target molecules of a hybridization solution. The slide assembly is placed into a heat shrinkage bag. The bag and slide assembly are then heated in a heat cycle sufficient to seal the bag around at least three sides of the slide assembly. An optional heat shrinkage cap can be fitted over the fourth side of the slide assembly and heated in a second heat cycle to seal the fourth side of the slide assembly after a hybridization solution is introduced into the reaction region of the slide assembly.

  • Patent number: 6600564
Abstract: This invention is a device and method for the measurement of optical path length. A frequency chirped electromagnetic wave source, such as a laser beam, is split into two branches. A reference branch is projected directly onto a photosensor, while a probe branch is launched towards a target whose distance relative to the reference path is to be determined. A reflected wave from the target is collected and mixed with the reference onto a photosensor. Due to the unequal path lengths traveled by the reference and the reflected probe laser beams as well as the chirped nature of their frequencies, a certain optical frequency difference exists between the two beams. This frequency difference is linearly proportional to the relative optical path length difference between the two laser beams and the relative optical path length can be readily determined by using a photosensor that generates photocurrents linearly proportional to the relative optical frequency differences between the reference and reflected branches.
