Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for fixing an annular element onto a shaft. The shaft may be a camshaft and the annular element may be a cam piece or a journal piece used in an automobile. The annular element is fixed onto the shaft by: engaging an axially extending projection of the element with an axially extending groove of the shaft so as to prevent a relative rotating motion; deforming an outer wall of the shaft adjacent to said groove at two positions near the terminating ends of the projection so that the outer wall protrudes into the groove, thereby fixing the element onto the shaft.

Abstract: Process and device for manufacturing cam shaft characterized in that axial grooves are cut on a cam shaft, while projections with a profile matching said axial grooves and slightly larger than said axial grooves are provided on the fitting surface of pieces to be assembled to said cam shaft, whereby said projections of said pieces are fitted into said grooves of said cam shaft.

Abstract: Method of obtaining a metallurgically firm joint between a shaft and its fitting member by assembling on the shaft a fitting member molded of a wear-resistant iron base sinterable alloy which yields a liquid phase in sintering, or by preliminarily sintering such an alloy at a temperature not yielding a liquid phase, and thereafter sintering the assembly at a temperature causing a precipitation of liquid phase, whereby the liquid phase of the fitting member is caused to diffuse and penetrate into the shaft with shrinkage of the sintered part.
