  • Patent number: 6502973
Abstract: A headlamp assembly for mounting a headlamp structure on a vehicle frame in a manner to minimize the vibration transmitted to the headlamp. The assembly includes an annular base member that is mounted to the vehicle frame with an opening sufficiently large to receive and surround the base of the headlamp structure without touching the base of the headlamp structure. A plurality of flat metal springs are attached by one end to the annular base at regular spaced intervals and the headlamp structure is attached to the other end of the shaped, flat springs. The springs hold the headlamp structure within the annular base substantially isolated from vibrations that would injure the filaments.

  • Patent number: 6364043
Abstract: A locking mechanism limits the motion of a vehicle cab that swings down on the vehicle chassis to rest on a floating bracket, where the floating bracket is supported by shock absorbers mounted to a chassis. The mechanism prevents upward movement of the floating bracket and thereby prevents upward swing of the cab from the chassis. The locking mechanism includes a flat arm fixed to the floating bracket and a fulcrum member fixed to the flat arm. The fulcrum member pivotally mounts a swing arm having a projection at one end. The mechanism is in a locking condition when the projection engages a mounting bracket fixed to the chassis. At different times when the cab swings down to the floating bracket, the cab's alignment with the chassis varies. The locking mechanism has features which allow it to adjust three-dimensionally to variations in this alignment.

  • Patent number: 5916022
Abstract: A defroster assembly uses heat from an engine's exhaust to heat the exterior of a windshield and the wipers thereon. The assembly comprises an air intake mechanism shared with the engine's air filter. The air intake mechanism leads to air ducts spaced from the engine block. Nodes in the air ducts encircle exhaust outlet pipes leading from the engine so that heat of the engine exhaust is transferred to air in the ducts. The assembly includes a vent subassembly for directing a stream of air in a laminar flow along the windshield. A fan of the assembly draws air from the ducts and forces it through the vent subassembly.
