  • Patent number: 11740293
Abstract: A battery cell monitor circuit includes a first serial transceiver, a second serial transceiver, and a command decoder. The command decoder is configured to cause the first serial transceiver or the second serial transceiver to transmit a response to a battery monitoring command based on a response direction field included in the battery monitoring command.

  • Patent number: 11054482
Abstract: A system that includes a battery, a power source, and a controller. The power source is configured to provide a charging current to the battery initially, and the controller is configured to associate a first impedance associated with a first state of charge (SOC) of the battery. Subsequently, the controller is configured to determine a second impedance of the battery during a discharge state of the battery. The controller may then determine a second SOC of the battery during the discharge state based on the first SOC of the battery when the second impedance corresponds to the first impedance.

  • Patent number: 10615612
Abstract: Disclosed examples include battery apparatus and balancing circuits for transferring charge between one or more of a plurality of battery cells and a second battery, in which a battery is coupled with a first winding of a transformer, and the second battery is coupled with a second transformer winding. A first transistor is turned on to allow current flow in the first winding to discharge the first battery, and then the first transistor is turned off. The resulting induced voltage in the second winding turns on a second transistor to provide flyback active charge balancing to charge the second battery. A signal from the third winding allows detection of low or zero current flow in the second winding for a controller to begin subsequent charge transfer cycles for full isolation between the first and second batteries.

  • Patent number: 10527680
Abstract: Systems (50, 200) and methods for determining a state of charge of a battery (52, 102, 150, 202) are provided. The system (50, 200) includes a power source (56, 206) configured to provide a charging current to a battery (52, 102, 150, 202). A controller (54, 104, 204) is included and configured to determine a state of charge of the battery (52, 102, 150, 202) based on impedance of a battery (52, 102, 150, 202) during a discharge time period based on an impedance and a state of charge relationship of a battery (52, 102, 150, 202) during a charge time period.
