    Abstract: Some of the present implementations provide a method for a user equipment (UE) for performing a random access (RA) procedure. The method transmits, to a base station, an RA preamble. The method then receives, from the base station, an RA response (RAR) associated with the RA preamble, the RAR containing a media access control (MAC) payload. The MAC payload identifies a set of one or more uplink (UL) grants for the UE. The method selects a UL grant from the set of one or more UL grants identified by the MAC payload for transmitting an Msg3 to the base station.

The method includes obtaining, by a user equipment (UE), information that indicates an association among multiple pathloss reference groups and multiple Transmission and Reception Points (TRPs), and determining, by the UE, whether a pathloss difference between a first pathloss estimated by a first pathloss reference Reference Signal (RS) and a second pathloss estimated by a second pathloss reference RS is larger than a Power Headroom Report (PHR) trigger threshold. The first pathloss reference RS and the second pathloss reference RS belong to a particular pathloss reference group of the pathloss reference groups. The method further includes triggering, by the UE, a first PHR when the pathloss difference is larger than the PHR trigger threshold.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for user-plane LWA PDU routing. In one novel aspect, LTE PDU packets are routed through a WLAN AP to a UE by encapsulation of the data packets. In one embodiment, a bridge/VLAN architecture is used. The UE identifies one or more Ethernet Frames received the WLAN interface as containing the PDCP PDUs by decoding the EtherType. In another embodiment, the WLAN terminated tunneling is used by decoding the EtherType of indicating the PDCP type. In another novel aspect, an UE-terminated tunneling is created. In one embodiment, the IP tunneling is used. In another embodiment, the GRE tunneling is used. The GRE header contains a KEY field to identify the packets as being the LWA packets. In yet another embodiment, the IPSec tunneling is used. The SPI of the header is used to identify the packets as being the LWA data packets.
