The present disclosure also provides methods of reducing analgesic use in a patient in need thereof, including selecting a patient with cancer, and administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a PD-1 inhibitor, wherein the patient is being treated with background analgesic therapy prior to administration of the PD-1 inhibitor. In some embodiments, the disclosed methods concurrently lead to tumor regression, pain reduction, and reduced use of analgesic therapy.
