Patent number: 7473143Abstract: A low profile electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a plurality of conductors in the housing, and a metal shell mounted in the housing. Two spaced flexible latches extend outward from either side of the shell. The latch includes a level portion having a top concave portion, and a solder leg extending downward from the level portion and having a curved portion extending from the concave portion to the solder leg. The housing and the shell together are mounted at a recess on an edge of a printed circuit board (PCB) by inserting the solder legs into a plurality of first holes of the PCB and inserting poles of the housing into a plurality of second holes of the PCB respectively with the level portions rested upon the PCB. Thus, height of the connector mounted on the PCB is greatly reduced.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2007Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Assignee: Advanced Connectek Inc.Inventor: Chien-Chiu Chen

Patent number: 7473132Abstract: An electrical connector with an IEEE1394 interface is disclosed. The electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a metal shell, a plurality of terminals and a rear cover. In application, the connector can be used in both inverted type and low profile type structure, the two side walls of the metal shell are respectively stamped with a wing which consists of a connecting portion, an arch portion and a solder portion, thus making a portion of said connector can be inlaid in the circuit board and also can be engaged tightly therewith, therefore creating more space and designing freedom for the printed circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2007Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Assignee: Advanced Connectek Inc.Inventor: Chien-Chiu Chen

Patent number: 7275940Abstract: A USB connector comprises an insert-molded member formed by insert molding technology and a metal shell, wherein the insert-molded member includes an insulative housing and a plurality of conductive terminals. The terminal bearing portion of the insert-molded member extends outward a first side arm and a second side arm having a clipping groove on two sides thereof. The rear part of each conductive terminal has an arch portion, which defines an interfering portion connected with a circuit board. A circuit board can be inserted into the clipping grooves of the insert-molded member from the rear side of the connector, then the conductive terminals press against the circuit board tightly for the arch portion on the rear part thereof with its elasticity and achieve signal transmission by connecting the interfering portion thereof with the circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2006Date of Patent: October 2, 2007Inventor: Chien-Chiu Chen

Publication number: 20070117459Abstract: The present invention is to provide a low profile electrical connector, which comprises an insulative housing, a plurality of electrical terminals disposed in the insulative housing and a metal shell enclosed on the insulative housing. The rear surface of the terminal seat on the insulative housing has two juxtaposed horizontal locating mechanisms for locating on a PCB. The metal shell is in a rectangular shape, the two side surfaces thereof each extends horizontally outward at least two fastening members, each fastening member is bent downward a solder leg paralleled to the respective side surface. Then the connector is mounted on the PCB having an open space through the locating mechanisms and solder legs with the half part of the connector inlaid below the open space of the PCB. Therefore, the present invention can reduce the height of the connector and spare the space of the electronic device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventor: Chien-Chiu Chen
